Question about Canon imageCLASS D320 Digital Copier

1 Answer

Canonimageclass D320 makes smudged copies. What do I do?

After repeatedly trying to copy a faint receipt, I reset the copier to "light." But now I get lots of blurred ink over most of the copies I try to make. Are the rollers dirty? If so, how do I clean them? This machine has been used only a little bit. I removed the cartridge and set it back in. Staples sold me some damp cleaning sheets to feed through, and they removed some smudging, but the copies are still heavily smudged.

did the copies for the receipt come out very dark? If so there may be a buildup of toner of the upper fuser roller. try running 20 blank pages and see what happens.

This model is noted for a jam in the fuser area around the roller, Not easy to get to but sounds a like that may be proble, Can you hear a sound like paper wrinking as it runs. Also is the drum in the cartridge clean or has tone on it. Have you changed the cartridge. I do get a kick out of Staples Experts.. They did sell you some cleaning sheets... Hey Good Luck....

How to get rid of faint copies

The most common problem that people have with this printer is that they say that the copies are faint. It could be that your toner is out of ink so make sure that the computer software and the printers display is not saying that you have to replace the toner. If it doesn't then its probably that the toner saver mode is on. to change it go to Additional Functions> Common Settings> Toner Saver Mode and change it to off. It should solve your problem . Thank you.

System error "E000"

Reset the device when it does not respond. If the device does not respond, disconnect and then reconnect the power cord. At the device or at the electrical outlet, disconnect the power cord or adapter. Wait approximately ten seconds and then reconnect the power cord. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request. If this doesn't work try reseting If all else fails I would suggest taking it to a qualified service center. Hope this helps:) Jason

Smudges on copies

You may want to try the series of steps required for "cleaning" the inside of the printer. Usually there are a combination of reset buttons that are used to clean a printer and it could take about 10 minutes. The Canon website usually has which combination of buttons will do that.

Copy is smearing from top to bottom on left side of paper about 1 inch wide.

The print in the smudged area, does it wipe off the page like not fused well to the paper. Do you also have a crinkling noise, if so the sleeve in the fixing assembly has torn. You may still have it under warranty with canon and can get it fixed for free.
Good luck

Sounds like your drum cartridge might be bad.
Something you can try that might narrow down the problem is to make a copy of something and shut the copier OFF in mid copy.
(Basically, when the light is about 1/2 way finished scanning.)
Then, open the machine up and removed the jammed paper which should be 1/2 way through your machine and hopefully about 1/2 way under the drum/toner cartridge unit.

See how the copy looks at that point. **** FYI **** The toner on the paper is NOT FUSED so it will RUB OFF. Keep the paper away from your clothes and toss it.
IF your copy has smudges on it, then there is a real good chance that your drum unit is bad and needs to replaced.

If the copy looks good, then there is a possibility that the fuser unit is bad and needs to be repaired.

I would say that your drum unit is bad with my experience with Canon Copier.

If you still have more questions, feel free to ask.
Have a good day.
Good luck.
