Is the timing set correctly? Good set of spark plugs?
If so, it has to be a blockage in the carb.

SOURCE: Poulan Wild Thing and Wood Shark Saws try to run, but stall down.

They could be sucking gas from the base gasket, head gasket or the bearings. Also, Check your flywheel very wheel and your armuter, if either are rusty then they need some sand paper to help create spark. There are rebuild kits and they are cheap. I always tell my customers to fix there older machines cause the new ones are **** and they leak everywhere and if anything brakes they are REALLY expensive to repair. You can get a rebuild kit whole machine for about 65 dollars

SOURCE: Chainsaw will not start

Remove muffler and check for carbon blockage.
If that is ok check crankshaft seals for leakage.

89 600f. What could cause fuel to get in crankcase

the floats in the carburetor will cause fuel into the crankcase if they are not shutting off the fuel in the bowls. another thing could be it is running rich. if you have not had the carbs cleaned(rebuilt) this should be done.

When trying to start fuel spits out of the carburator

Remove carb float bowl. Clean bowl. Get model no. of engine and get new float bowl gasket set at mower repair store. Ensure float drops down freely with float bowl removed. Push up on float to stop fuel flow. If not working properly replace float and meter needle.

I have a John deere 316 with a onan and it will not run unless the choke is almost closed, I have checked the fuel flow and the compression and all seems good. What do you think is wrong?

hello sir, mower will not start or run, runs only when primming, does it have good spark, good compression,or only runs on full choke, are you getting fuel to the engine if not try this, your fuel pump or your carb. is clogged up here is what you can do for a simple repair for the carb, you can remove the air filter and assy, empty fuel tank and clean out tank and line, remove the bowl nut and bowl careful of the gaskets, now spray carb cleaner in the small port holes in the carb steam in the middle of the carb until clean, now spray the bowl nut holes until clean there are three, after cleaning put bowl on the same way you removed it with dip towards front of float, put bow, and fresh gas,you should be good to go,hope this helps.,thank you.~~

Starting engine, Get Click, click, small amout of movement. Changed batt, sole, safe switch, starter, Remove Spark Plugs Engine Turns over Starter spins engine round & round. Plugs back in no good?

Check for spark at the spark plugs. If you have spark, the the problem is fuel related. If your carbs have an electrical solinoid below the bowl, unplug the wire connection and THEN unscrew the solenoid. There maybe a fiber gasket, be careful not to tear it. Unscrew the solenoid and check to see if clean fuel comes out of the bowl. If no fuel comes out, you have to clean the carb bowl and the jet. If clean and FRESH gas does come out of the bowl, then the (fuel shut off) solenoid is stuck in the OFF position. (the alcohol in our gas causes these solenoids to rust and stick) Buy a new solenoid.
NOW if you don't have spark, check the kill switches first, you may have 3 on a riding mower. You can temporaily bypass them if you don't have an ohm meter for testing.

My issue with my bike is constant fuel overflow, even after the bike is shut off fuel keeps running out. A little back history. The bike has sat for 26 years in a shed. I took the carbs apart and cleaned...

Your petcock needs to be rebuilt (if parts available), or replaced, if it does not shut off the fuel. It also may not be saving reserve fuel , if gas is bypassing the ON position. You may also need a new fuel filter .Maybe add an additional in line filter. If you have replaced the float needles and the carbs are still overflowing you probably have a problem with rust in the tank. Have the inside of the tank cleaned or use a rust removal kit on the tank and see if this does not solve the problem. Try to avoid fuel tank liners if possible , they can cause more problems than they solve.

Rebuilt carb on 92 isuzu, fule in bowl but not getting in throat of motor

Unhook your fuel line and put it in a plastic bottle watch to see if you get fuel out of the pump fuel line in the bottle when you crank it over if not then you need to find out why the pump is not working, most likely bad fuel pump, if you get fuel then you operate the gas cable with the top of the carb off it sounds like the venturi jets are plugged, they have two ball bearings and two springs in them and if you have them in wrong it won't allow gas threw the venturi jets. if you need more information post to this question.

Carb leakage

I'm close to finished on my '82 Nighthawk project. I just recently rebuilt the carbs including new bowl gaskets. I'm still getting leakage around a couple of the bowls enough that it is quite a problem. If the new gaskets didn't fix which I was planning on them doing, then what should I do? ,What one of my friends did is buy gasket fabric from an auto store and cut a gasket for himself. That should be a suitable replacement, as its gasoline resistant and tempereature rated to a few hundred degrees (not that carbs get that hot anyway) Alternatively, could your carbs be leakinig around the supply line? Im nont s ure how it is in hondas, but on some yams like mine, the fuel supply is through a banjo-bolt. If one of the washers is lose, you could have fuel from the carb bowls drip back out through the supply line, especially with the bike on the kickstand.,,,
