Question about Canon Pixma MP500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Strange Printer Problem - HP LaserJet 2600n

I am having a extremely strange printer issue with one of our users here. We have a hp laserjet 2600n setup on the network. We setup the printer on the computer as a local printer using a tcp/ip port. When we first setup the printer it will print the test page at the end of the install just fine. Any attempts to print after that will not work. There is no errors on the printer or the computer indicating that something may have gone wrong.

We have multiple users connected the the printer and this issue only happenes to one user. We even changed out her computer with a new one with a fresh install of xp pro and the issue is still there. We have also tried diffrent drivers and restarting the printer. Any insite to what may be causing this would be greatly appriciated. Thank you.

    Thanks for your quick response but it does not seem to be a permissions
    issue. We have it set up so that all authenticated users are able to
    print to it and she is logging in under the correct account. Even when
    logging on as the Domain admin on her computer I am still having the
    same issue.

    All users are in the same O/U. We keep our AD very organized.

    Ya, all of her permissions seem to be setup correctly on both the printer and her account. She was able to print to the printer with no issues a couple of weeks ago.

    Ya The PC is in the same O/U as the other PC's that can print to it and it also has the correct permissions.

    It's ok. I really appreciate the help.

    The only change that was really made was that we replaced the color ink in the printer.

    Good Idea, but unfortunately we have already tried clearing her off and completely reinstalling the printer with fresh permissions. I will try setting her up in a test O/U and see if that makes any difference and get back to you on that.

    Ping and Tracert seem to go thru just fine with no missing packets. Same with a pathping. Here is the output of it if it helps any.

    We have it set up so that all domain users are admins on the computers. I don't believe that it is a user issue because I can log in with the domain admin account and still have the problem.

Sounds like a permission's issue,

Check her/his permissions on the printer's list.

    ok,



    If you have changed the Pc, this is not the issue.



    the problem I think, is either her account properties,

    or the printer's permissions.

    if her permissions are good on the printer.

    check her personal account details are all good too.

    but the Pc might not have.

    Something must of changed two weeks ago, in setup.



    Try to think what changes were made then.



    new router ? switch ? I.P. address ? subnet mask ?

    Hi,



    changing ink and she dropped off the map, strange that is.



    I would start from scratch, remove her from the list,



    then add her back to the list



    Or, try a seperate O/U for testing purposes



    see if you can get a result that way



    It is only 1 user, so deleting and starting again



    could be quicker than chasing the problem around.

    Hi, phew I am stryggling here too.



    Try to use Pathping, ping or tracert to trace the problem down.



    see where it faulters on the hops.



    you might get a drop on a router or switch somewhere

    Hi, tricky one this.



    That looks good to me, nothing dropped, all packets are there,



    So, the network is good, Pc and Printer good, routers/hops etc...



    It's got to be a User issue now. defo.



    Is she a user, guest account, temp, power user,



    temps, and guests tend not to get much power

    ( permission wise )



    I am coming back to permissions here, for some reason.



    Check she is not denied, even though she may be setup correctly



    She still could be denied

    There is no Hierachy problem, no network problem,



    No permission problem,



    Obviously it is visable in A/D because all users are using it,



    so it is not a Print driver issue, visability problem.



    I am sorry I am stumped, you have got me.



    I do know a guy that will find the problem for you.

Can't print to HP 2600n over network


The LaserJet 2600N has a built-in print server and can be connected to the local network (normal ethernet cable) directly. While printer sharing via Windows should work, I found it much more convenient to access it without the need of a hosting computer - you do not need to switch on the desktop PC for printing from the Laptop, for example, its also printing faster.

Strange Printer Issue - HP Laserjet 2600n


The last time I checked, you cannot set up a local printer using a TCP/IP port. A local printer is physically connected to a computer via a parallel, serial (very old), or USB cable. If the printer is connected to a switch, hub, or router via an Ethernet cable, it is by definition a network printer and the driver install must reflect this. I don't understand why it is able to print out the test page after the install. If you open up Control Panel -> Printers and double-click on the HP Laserjet 2600n in there, it will bring up the local spooler for the printer. You may have a bunch of print jobs queued up in there that it cannot currently send to the printer. You may want to clear the queue first (cancel all print jobs). Let me know if you have problems clearing the queue & I can give you instructions on how to do that one too.

Cant print in my network


I am having a similiar network problem, I setup the 2600n on my small-office network, plugging it into an 8 port switch along with a computer and IP camera....then connected the switch to the default router...this worked for a while as my router provided the printer an internal IP, but somehow the IP reset itself to an external IP,and print jobs I send now to the 2600n from my network will not print. I can't seem to access a configuration window to set a static IP address my router will recognize.

Printer Pinging problem?


Make sure your wireless workgroup/domain are the same as your wired network. If they are, you should reinstall the printer from control panel. Choose add network printer, choose the proper workgroup/domain, you should see the available printer, select it, it may need to download drivers and install them. Tim
