Washing machine is overflowing in the rinse cycle

It is overflowing in the rinse cycle, but only sometimes. I have tied filling it just half way and setting the load size to medium and it still overflows. I tried unplugging it while it is filling w/ water and when it's unplugged it stops filling. Suggestions, please?

no, i don't know how to do that...i also have the problem that space is very limited and i have a very difficult time accessing the back of the machine and cannot move it out from the wall more than a few inches.

what make,is it a top load?it sounds like the water level hose might have come loose or the water level switch is bad,let me know

There is probably an obstruction in the hose which is part of the water level sensing subsystem. This is usually a small (3/8" - 1/2") clear hose which runs up the side of the tub. To see it, you'll have to pop the lid of the washer. Do You know how to do this?

The front panel comes off,i think there is 2 screws on the front bottom,if not there should be spring clips in the top front seam on on each side, check the clear hose going to the tub, make sure nothing is in it and it is on tight, check the other side of the hose is behind the head panel,do the same there,if they both go good then you have a bad water level switch, let me know

Well, it sounds like you need a service call. The fix is probably one of the cheaper ones you could encounter -- but be prepared.

I have a GE front loader washer and on the rinse cycle it stops and counts down.

Most washers now have a cold rinse only per government requirements. If you have the cold half of the inlet valve bad or sometimes blocked with sediment it will not fill for the rinse cycle causing the problem you have. The inlet valve is the part your house hoses hook to on the back of the machine.

Kenmore 80 series washer will sometimes not fill in rinse cycle, sometimes half fill, sometimes 1/4. fills fine for start but not rinse????

HI, This will be the result of a failing control sector. The control sector can be a timer module, or a single printed circuit board. In any case, this will be your culprit. Have this damaged control replaced, asap. Once replaced, your unit will operate correctly.

Kenmore washer overflows during rinse cycle.

SOME OF THESE MACHINES HAVE TWO PRESSURE SWITCHES IN THEM, ONE FOR THE MAIN WASH WATER LEVEL AND ONE FOR THE RINSE WATER LEVEL. CHECK FOR A PLUGGED AIR PRESSURE HOSE FIRST AND THEN CHECK THE PRESSURE SWITCHES.

My Roper top loading washing won't stop filling.

It's not necessarily the angle of your drain hose. When it drains as you fill it, it's called a siphon condition. Pull the excess hose out of the stand pipe (drain). Only about 6" should remain inside the pipe. Tie it down with a plastic tie to one of your fill hoses to prevent water pressure from pushing it back out. This should solve your problem.
