Question about Canon SmartBase MPC400 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Error "wrong cartridge" Problem - Canon SmartBase MPC400 All-In-One InkJet Printer I have been using for a long time compatible cartridges, when I placed in a new cartridge I received the "wrong cartridge" flashing in the printer display box. So I put in another thinking it may have been a faulty cartridge and the same error occurred. I wrote to my supplier who kindly sent me free of charge a new cartridge in case the last batch was faulty and still the same error message. Any advice appreciated, thank you,
I read with interest the comments as I was having exactly the same problem with my canon mpc400...constant 'wrong cartridge' message even though all cartridges had been renewed at great cost and all were canon cartridges.
In frustration at the prospect of having to buy a new printer or pay 150 euros for an 'expert opinion' I decided to be courageous. Firstly I took out the print head mechanism and washed it under warm water until the water ran clear. This was based on other comments I had read about emptying waste ink tanks etc. I did try to keep the micro panel dry but it didn't seem to matter and l padded it dry on kitchen towel afterwards. That didnt work. BUT in combination with a little trick I stumbled on after....I cracked it! Keep the lid up and power off.....you will get a message 'shutting down'. Then power back on and hey presto! Well it worked for me. I think it needs to shut down and

I'm not familiar with your particular model... but have you made sure the electrical contacts on both the printer and cartridge are clean (assuming there are such)? Sometimes these contacts get dirty or covered with ink. Try using a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol or electrical contact cleaner (Chemtronics Tun-0-Wash or similiar). This may not be your problem, but it is worth a shot.
