Question about NorStar Meridian M7310 Phone

I am getting "invalid mailbox" when trying to reset password.

My company has a M7310 phone system and I keep getting a "Invalid Mailbox" when I try to get in to reset the password. I have done it for one phone but am having no luck with this mailbox. I checked my mailbox (which I still have access to voicemail) and am getting the same message. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thanks for the quick reply. I am trying to reset an individuals phone, he forgot his password and the system locked him out giving him the message "mailbox is lock, contact administrator". He would normally hit F981 to log into his own voicemail.

    I logged in as administrator without issue and when I try to input his Mbox number I get "invalid mailbox" and the same happens when I try my own (which I am still able to access my voicemail). I tried a bunch of extensions where some are accessible and others aren't.

    Are you sure that is his extension number, typically the extension number and the voicemail are the same number to keep things simple, but the voicemail extensions can be altered to another number.



    If you got to his set and do a FEATURE 0 and press the Intercom button, this will tell you his extension... and you can do likewise for your extension too.



    You are getting in to change the mailboxes by going in via F983 correct?

    Unfortunately, if you are doing changes via the telephone set, you have to just keep dialing extension voicemail boxes till you find them...where as if you could get in via your computer, you can see all the extensions.



    Changing Mailboxes

    1 – Feature 983

    2 – Log: = 1020000 (3-digit DNs) or 120000 (2-digit DNs)

    3 – Press Mbox

    4 – Press CHNG

    5 – Mbox: Dial mailbox number to be changed.

    6 – Password: Press RESET to default password to 0000

    What mailbox are you trying to reset, is it the receptionist set?

    Or is this mailbox for a hunt group of sorts?



    To get into this mailbox, the person at the set just dials F981 and password correct... or do they have the option to LOG into another mailbox?

Also, are you sure that this mailbox was ever created? Perhaps it was deleted? What happens if you do:

Feature 983
Enter pw
MBOX
ADD
Enter EXT

I am locked out of my admin mailbox on my nortel nt8b26aabl phone, when i use feature 983 and then password 102000, it says invalid password.???

We have a norstar m7310 and the mailbox is locked due to too many failed password attempts. I did log into the System administration and reset the password to that mailbox and it is still locked. How do I...


When you reset the password, it goes back to the default of "0000". When you try to log into that mailbox the next time, it will prompt you to change the password. Hope this helps!

1. Log into system administration
To Reset a Mailbox Password:
1. Log into system administration
2. Select the softkey under “MBOX”
3. Select the softkey under “Chng”
4. Enter the mailbox number you want to reset the password for
5. The display shows “Reset Password”
6. Select the softkey under “RESET”
7. Press the release key
*The new password will be “0000′, the system will ask the user to change

Locked out of Norstar Voicemail Admin


Sounds like the admin password has been changed. You will have to go thru the vm admin password process to default it.

Initialising Mailbox


To Log Into System Administration:

4. Enter the mailbox number (extension. you want to add
5. Mailbox type: Subscriber and then select "OK"
6. Extension: Usually the same as the mailbox number
7. Service Class: Enter 1
8. Name: Enter the name using the dial pad. Enter last name first, press "# #" to enter a comma, and then enter the first name. When spelling the name, press # to move to the next character
9. Directory: Y (Yes.
10. Message Waiting: Y (Yes.
11. Out dial: Pool, enter 1 and then OK
12. Accept: 1, select OK

To Delete a Mailbox:

9. Select the softkey under "Next" to save the change
10. Hit the release button

To Change the "Recorded" Name for the Company Directory:
1. Have the Voicemail User log into their mailbox, after putting in their password, press the button under "Admin" (or press the number 8 key., and then press the number 1 key.
2. You will hear the old recorded name and then the system will "beep", prompting you to record a new name (name only here, not greeting..
3. Press "Ok" in the window when you are done recording and then "Ok" again to accept the recording
