It depends on the make or model but usually it is a simple arrow(either up or down). The older ones though have a sliding bar that you use to set the temp you want.

I would like to set the cooling temperature on my LUX TX9600TS thermostat below 74 degrees. At this time I can not get it to go lower. Is there a way to change that ?

Lux tech support 856-234-8803. I Google your tstat info and there is a downloadable manual that explains it. If I read it correctly, set it to cool, hold menu button, when screen changes scroll to "cooling limit", enter 00(that's like a pass code), then it's probably set to limit at 74. Lower that setting. Now from a professionals opinion, someone may have set that to 74 because that machine may have a history of freezing up when set below 74. Most all cooling systems are designed for a 75°f indoor at 95°f outdoor temps and 55% RH(humidity). Anything beyond that is also beyond design specifications. So it may freeze up which has the potential of compressor damage.

Why won't my VT60 hold a temperature in the high 50's any longer? It is at 74 and won't let me change it to the 50's.

Make sure all the dust is removed from coils, fan blades and intake vent grill / filter!!! drain the condensation collection pan, and then reset the thermostat and wait 24 hours; before checking the temperature with a digital temp. gauge.

My Honeywell PRO 4000 Programmable Thermostat is set to 62 but last night went to 74 & then to 78 & heat would not go off. We have a Trane XB furnace - Both 5 years old. Took face plate off...

You probably have it running a program. Try using it simply on heat mode. Then set temperature and press hold on thermostat. The word hold should show up on the screen.

Vinotemp VT-16TEDS has light on but doesn't cool

First check the grating over the fan in the back. If it is covered with dust, there won't be enough air flow and the unit won't cool. Clean the dust off and see if it cools back down. It may take a long time to cool down if it is full of wine, so I recommend taking the wine out to test if it works.
