Put your hand in and poke at the front and poke all the levers and move things around a bit it sounds like a stuck switch and poking them normaly frees them up.

SOURCE: HP 5610 all-in-one fake "paper jam"

I request you to please perform the below steps to reslove false paper jam..


Step one: Perform a partial reset

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the product.
  2. Press and hold # and 3 while reconnecting the power cord to the product, and then release both buttons.
  3. Try making a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel.
    • If the partial reset resolves the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
    • If the error message displays again, proceed to the next step to try a semi-full reset.
Step two: Perform a semi-full reset CAUTION: Performing a semi-full reset deletes any saved phone numbers on the product.
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the product.
  2. Press and hold # and 6 while reconnecting the power cord to the product, and then release both buttons.
  3. Try making a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel.
    • If the semi-full reset resolves the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
    • If the error message displays again, proceed to the next solution.

Try This :

>Open the rear access door clean the rollers inside it with the help of a Lint free cloth moistened with some distilled water.
>Check inside the printer if there is any paper jammed inside.
>Unplug the power cable from the back of the computer
> Keep on tapping the power button of the printer
> Plug in back the power button.
> Try to do a photocopy and see if it works .
> Again unplug the power cable from the back of the printer . Press and hold down the (#) & (9) and then plug in back the power cable . Then release the (#) & (9) button.
> It will perform a reset . If still it doesn't work check the link given below :

This error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

Lift the cover just as you would to scan a document. Then, lift the side of the cover directly to the left of the glass, closest to the glass, and check for jammed paper.

My 5610 all in one series keeps telling me that there is a paper jam. I have checked and there is no paper jammed in the printer. It won't reset. It keeps saying paper jam. Help!


Check to make sure both ink cartridges are installed properly. I don't know why it says "paper jam" when the cartridges aren't properly installed, but it does.

I have a hp 5610 that gives me an catridge jam error


its should be caraige jam ... remove the catridges try to move the caraige ... and hope that it doesnt move freely ... than check for any paper jams than put the cartridges again and see

go to hp.com, support and troubleshooting, type in your pirnter model number and download the user manual. follow the direction to disassemble the printer. you might not need to disasseble the printer, if you can see the jammed paper.
follow the direction and clean the roller and the printer head.
it should work.
