Question about Poulan Pro 42CC 2 Cycle Chainsaw, 18"

Poulan 2550 chainsaw does not lube the chain

How can I troubleshout chain lubricaton  problem ? I cleaned it around the spracket and it has plenty of oil but the chain is dry.

Sometimes the oi lpumps fail or get clogged youll have to take it apart and replace/clean the pump. let me know if you want more instructions on this

Chainsaw won't idle- runs fast only


Gently Tighten the carb adjustment screw fully tight then adjust it out 360 (full turn) then again a further 180 ( half a turn) and your idle speed should be set correctly. Let me know how you get on

There is no problem as long as the bar is the right bar and the new chain you use is the right pitch for the sprocket that is on your saw.

Chain Lube Leak


It is the nature of the beast. Many chainsaws suffer from this malady. I own a bunch.

I have a poulan 14" chainsaw that doesn't seem to supply enough oil to lube chain.


make sure bar is clean and all debris from area under chain cover

Poulan 18" Chainsaw - Motor runs fine but blade stopped spinning


Chain may be locked in the bar. Caused by low oil flow to chain. You will probably have to remove the bar and blade. Then try to rotate the sprocket, if it will not rotate you may have to replace or repair the clutch. with the blade off try starting the saw and see if it is oiling. There is a small hole in housing that oil should be visible coming out at a fairly good rate. If not you will either have to open orifice in the housing or repairing the oil pump.

Poulan Pro Chainsaw PPB1838 Bar Lube Leaking Out


If this is a Poulan as listed I would go to psep.biz and look at a schematic for the tool. You would need the model number and type number but their breakdowns are good.

Poulan pro series chain saw 20" bearings seizing up on bar


check sprocket isn't worn it may be pulling on chain than over heating bearing. check pitch of chain ,bar , sprocket are the same.
