Question about Refrigerators
I have a frigidaire refrigerator (model FRS26KF6EM3). The ice maker isn?t working?over the past year this has happened a few times where I needed to unblock built up ice where the water enters from the tubing. This time there was no ice?I defrosted the freezer to allow possible ice build to up melt but that didn?t work either. Moving the shut off arm up or down doesn?t result in any flow of water to the ice-maker mold. The water side dispenses fine so I am guessing it is isolated to the ice maker plus when I filled the ice container with outside ice the fridge crushes & dispenses on the ice side just fine. I?ve seen on this site discussion about micro switches?do you think this might be the case? Any thoughts on what else might be causing it?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Is the freezer section below 17 degrees F? Did the ice maker get switched off by accident? Does the ice maker solenoid valve "click" when trying to fill with water?

Make sure your manual doesn't say something about inline filters, or a float that might be sticking in off position. Depending on how ice is made sometimes they have a float to where water rises so hight then gets shut off to freeze and form the ice.

More than likely, your water line is freezing up in the door. You can remove all of the ice cubes and lower the freezer temp to about 3. Leave the freezer door open for about 5 minutes or so and if this does not work, leave the door open a little longer. Also, disconnect the water line at the base of the freezer door, near the floor, and press the dispenser lever. If you have water there, you most likely have a frozen line in the door. Changing the water filter often will help but it is not the answer and is can get quite expensive. By the way, Make sure to hold the dispenser lever forward for at least a couple of minutes each time you test for water flow. If you do not get water at the connector at the base of the door after you have disconnected the line, you have a problem with the valve in the back of the refrigerator.

Tips for a great answer:
Hey friend, that's a great question!
For our Frigidaire refrigerators the water filter does in fact filter the ice maker too. The water enters your refrigerator from the water valve and then goes into your filter. It is then distributed between your ice maker and water tank. Hope this information has been helpful. -Matt
