SOURCE: My Honda EB3500X Shuts off when auto throttle is switched on making me run full throttle at all times. Cause? Solution?

is there a load of at least 30% of rated generator load connected and proved working ? if not the the Auto throttle ckt works by load and just a lil drop light or something small is not enough for ckt to "See" hence it says no load and shuts gen off for safety

if your engine shutting down, then your auto throttle is working.
when you hit the switch watch the throttle arm move on the carburetor to the idle position,if so you may have to clean the carburetor jet and fuel nozzle ports.possibly this occurs when unit has been stored for quite some time.once jets are cleaned it should maintain idle.

Honda EM5000SX generator - will not idle up when a load is placed on. Will produce power but will not idle up.

from your description and what you do , the problem is in the auto control unit
it will be in the system to reduce the rpm to idle when there is no load ( auto mains on off controller switching between genset and mains supply)
by turning the auto operation off you are committing the gen set to full rpms regardless of the power requirement
you have the option of having it fixed at an gen set repair shop or leaving it off and starting the genset only when you have a mains power outage
check with an electrician to ensure that it is possible to run it that way as if the mains power unit is not correct , when you start it and you still have mains power , it will destroy the gen set

Why wouldn't my em5000sx honda generator not run my rheem gas heater.

  • The Auto Throttle System switch needs to be in the off position.
  • If the generator has not been used for awhile than the fuel is stale and the generator may be slow in responding to the load change. Replace fuel with fresh fuel.
  • Attach a second load such as a 100 watt light bulb standard bulb with a tungsten filament. Observe the light as the heater cycles. If the light goes very dim than the generator is slow responding to a load change. Generator carburetor needs to be cleaned, tune-up. Run fresh fuel under load to see if carburetor will clean itself.
  • Try adding choke to see if richer mixture reduces voltage dip. Check manual for mixture adjustments.

Engine stops when I place it in reverse or drive

You can in most cases repair this slow speed stall or unstable idle by cleaning the engine throttle valve and the idle speed control valve using a product called CRC Spray Throttle valve cleaner. Spray the cleaner into the air intake of the engine with the hose removed from the throttle body, the engine will try to stall so hold up the idle speed manually. Once you have used up about 1/2 can of the cleaner stall the engine out while spraying and turn the key off, disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes and then reconnect and drive the car for a about 25 miles of varied driving modes. If this doesn't cure the problem you may need the fuel injectors professionally cleaned by the dealer service dept.

Cannot get my generator to run on 220 mode, only runs on 110 when I disengage the auto throttle

There's a short in the 220 circuitry. Check for continuity between the two hot leads, or between the hot leads to ground

Honda em5000sx generator won't start

Hi,
I have a EM5000SX. My problem is my generator will not start unless I turn the fuel selector to off. Then crank it until it does start, turn the fuel back on. Run's normal . I run this generator for my cabin every weekend.

Want to verify reasons why 95 Honda Odyssee engine wants to stall and die at low speed

This is almost always caused by a dirty throttle valve and automatic idle speed control valve which is on the throttle body. Do the following to clean the system up.

To correct this problem Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (it is made by CRC) from the local auto parts store, NEVER USE CARB CLEANING SPRAY, IT DESTROYS THE ANTI-STICK TEFLON COATING, spray it into the air intake through the throttle body of the engine until you have used about half the can, you will need to hold the idle up while you do this, it will try to stall, after this shut the engine down and disconnect the Negative (-) battery cable for 5 minutes. The intake is now clean, if you continue to have the idle speed control problems you may need to seek the help of a professional.

My 1994 Honda civic dx idles rough and sputters like its going to stall . but it runs fine at an increased RPM. when at a stop it acts like it is going to stall ... i was told it was the map-sensor.whitch...

Check your throttle plate and housing, as it could have buildup preventing a stable idle. Can be easily cleaned with an aerosol throttle cleaner with engine off, then starting and moderately revving the engine until it clears out the remains of the cleaner.

My 1988 honda civic spudders and will shut off when coming to a stop? it runs fine until i apply the brakes or slowing down? please help

This is often due to a dirty idle speed control valve and throttle valve, please do the following service.

To correct this problem I want you to get a can of intake cleaner (ABOUT $5.00) from any local auto parts store like NAPA or Carquest, do not use carburetor spray, intake cleaner only or u will damage the Teflon coating inside the throttle valve and air bypass valve, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

ENGINE DIES WHEN YOU STOP AT STOP SIGN

Hondas are notorius for building up carbon in the throttle body causing them to run rough and eventually stall. i would try remove the intake tube and spray carburator cleaner thru the throttle body with the car running and wiping out as much as you can reach with a rag and carb cleaner
