Question about Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer

3 fast beeps then won't start

The dryer has worked great for 2 years, then this AM, not so much. Press start, just get the 3 fast beeps I have unplugged and replugged, checked the circuit breakers, thoroughly cleaned the lint filter, checked the door lock, now what?? I would take the control panel off and check that but I don't know how to get it off. I think I should just go back to hanging the laundry outside.

The light burned out this morning when I open the door. It flashed the way a light bulb often does when you turn on a light switch. It wasn't the type of thing where the door was open and not making contact so the light burned out. Do you still think it's the door switch? I can push on the switch and feel pressure and the door seems to be closing firmly.

The other thing that happened this morning is that a GFI outlet tripped that is on a kitchen circuit. I'm not sure how that would impact the dryer since it's on a 220 outlet, but that was oddly coincidental. I hit the reset button on that and it's working fine now. And as mentioned before the lights on the control panel are working.

Is replacing the door switch a task for a trained service provider or something I can do?

My aunt has the same problem the timer that stops the machine went out and she had a tech put in a timer switch or circuit and it works great . she only paid $29.99 for the guy to do all the work and parts. If you find this helpful you can hit accept. thanks

Something sure surged it thats for sure dont matter if its on a 220 or not you still can get back flow so if you think its the door switch that needs repair instead of the timer still its going to need someone professional to look at it, Thanks for using Fixya.com

It seems that the door closure switch is a common failure point. The common theme is the dryer interior light burning out. The door switch fails, so the light stays on, and burns out. Then you try to do a load and the dryer will not start due to the switch not making contact. It could be an intermittent problem too. Replacing the door closure switch will solve the problem.

Another guy had this same problem, and apparently the problem was that the door latch was not operating to the extent that the sensors thought the door was open. He replaced the latch next week. He adjusted the old one in the mean time and it appeared to be working fine.

Hope I helped with the repair of your problem.
An Accept from you is how I get paid.
And a positive feed back tells me how I did with the repair.

Dryer won't start

If you look closely, there are 3 separate pins that must latch. One is a simple push-button style which latches no problem.
The others are little prongs at the top and bottom of door. The bottom prong latches cleanly, but the top one will not latch because the door is a bit too flexible.
Close the door normally, then firmly press on the top edge of the door. You will hear the final latch grab, then you press and hold the start button. The dryer starts normally.

F 70 code on the Kenmore elete smartheat HE4

hello Whgispers42,
Huuum At your service!

You said,
We frequently have to start the dryer several times during one load. The dryer will run fine for a while then all the sudden give 3 beeps and then the F 70 code. Sometimes when you go to start the dryer you can press power and the panel will light up for about 3 - 5 seconds and then shut off again, this will happen several times in a row. We have been unable to solve this issue ourselves and are becoming very frustrated since this washer/dryer set are less than a year old. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. (If we are unable to fix this problem soon, it is likely that the dryer will make a sudden leap from the second floor window to the backyard)

Try this first!!
This is an error code.

This can reset the system.
First unplug the washer and wait a 5 minutes then restart it.
It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
Usually it corrects some error problems if they are not serious.
Or they are sometimes just a glitch.

If this does not help, you said the machine is not one year old.
All appliances have a 1 -year warranty and the service and parts are free for that first year!
I hope you succeed with my recommendations.
