Hi I am Pandu, I understand that your computer is restarting while installing Windows XP. I request you to expand your question more to understand the problem better and to find a exact solution. Please let me know Which version of XP you want to install (ex. Home, Professional..etc)? Have you made any hardware changes to your computer? Do you notice any bluescreen while installing? If yes then what would be the error code of bluescreen? The problem is not with the motherboard this could be with the hard drive.

My advice would be to format the Hardrive before using windows setup by using a boot disk (floppy) If you dont have one try here if your not sure how to do this the procedure is..
    * Make sure bios is set to boot from floppy
    *Insert boot disk and reboot
Once you have booted up with the boot disk type a:\fdisk
    Deleting an NTFS Partition
    1. Select Y for treating NTFS partitions as large
    2. Select 3. Delete partition or Logical DOS Drive
    3. Select 4. Delete Non-DOS Partition
    4. Enter 1 for the primary partition to delete
    5. Enter in the number of the Non-DOS Partition.. It should show as Type NTFS in the list above.
    6. Press the Enter key
    7. Enter Y for Do you wish to continue
    8. Press the Esc key to bring you back to the main FDISK screen.

Now try it using the Windows Cd.

Hi I have a windows xp pro and my mother board is a ASUS A8V-X and it gave me a error message saying that I needed original cd that came with it i am assumeing that it would be the mother board i cant...

You can find manuals and drivers at the Asus site >> But in the position you are now and your computer wont start try do this
Start it at safe mode pressing and holding the F8 key while booting. Use your original Windows XP pro CD to repair/restore your windows installation
Just follow the onscreen instructions.
If that wont work you may need a technician to remove your had disk, take copies of any usefull data you may have on it, reformat your hard disk and make a new windows installation.
Try to upgrade to windows Vista.
