Click "Control Panel."
Click "Power Options."
Click the "Change What Closing the Lid Does" hyperlink on the left side of the screen.
Click the "Closing the Lid" drop-down menu. Select either "Sleep," "Hibernate" or "Do Nothing." All three of these options will stop your Acer laptop from shutting down completely when you close the lid. Click "OK" to save changes.

SOURCE: acer note book not powering up
Please try the following
1) Try changing the fuse in the power lead
2) Try to obtain another power charger lead
If the above 2 fail then unfortunatley you are ooking at a hardware error and you will need to book the laptop in at a reputable PC shop for futher hardware diagnosis
If this has been useful please leave positive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank you again

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen
