Question about Pool & Spa

Nitro pool cleaner

My nitro pool cleaner starts up, goes half-way up a wall, back down and then does a wheelie, freezing at a 45-degree angle off the bottom. The light on the transformer remains on until I pull the plug, let it rest, only to repeat the cycle when I plug it back in. The unit is about five years old and I have had to replace the transformer recently after the old one overheated. Any thoughts?

If you can, adjust your intake valves so more of the suction is coming from your vacuum and less from your skimmers. This will allow the the vacuum to climb out of the deep end.

Make sure that your automatic pool cleaner is getting the proper pressure from the return lines to move the wheels. Also, make sure that the filter bag is clean and the the impellers are free. Both of these can restrict movements. You might also want to check your hose and make sure that there are not blockages/knots/etc.

If the dolphin is falling backward when it meets the water line, there is an easy fix. The automatic pool cleaners often have this problem. The easiest solution is to remove the handle floats and attach an 8 oz weight to the bottom inlet cover.

The pump motor is responsible for the programming of the unit and it is failing. You will need a new pump motor installed to correct the issue. For information about sending the unit in for repair you can try our site at www.arrowpools.net or the manufacturer at www.smartpool.com.

Doesn't stay flush to bottom, good suction, if I hold front portion down it works great!

It's most likely a piece of debris in your flapper of your automatic pool cleaner. Debris may prevent flapper movement or restrict flow. You might also want to check for proper hose balance. The hose should stay at a 45 degree angle to the pool floor. If it is greater than a fourty five degree angle, the hose is too light. Move the weights closer to cleaner, or move the first two weights closer to each other. If it is less than a 45 degree angle, move the weights away from cleaner, or separate the first
two weights away from each other.

Hi, I also bought my Bull Shark Kreepy Krauly recently - 3 months ago. Since day 1 it liftes up at the end and does not move flat on the surface of the swimming pool. Please assist.

First, check for debris in the pool cleaners flapper. This can cause a lack of suction the floor. Also, check for proper hose balance. If the hose rests at a greater than 45 degree angle, the hose is too light and you need to move the hose weights closer to the cleaner. If the hose rests at a less than 45 degree angle, you need to move the weights away from the cleaner.

Hello i have a the pool cleaner and it keep turning upside down and then just stays at the bottom upside down and not cleaning. Can you give any suggestions. Thanks

Try adjusting the pool cleaners weights. A properly balanced hose will make the cleaner sit at a 45 degree angle when attached to the pool floor. If the cleaner is rising off the pool floor from the front of the cleaner first, move the weights closer to the cleaner. If the back is rising first, move the weights further back. You might also need to add a hose weight (part #W83247). The only other thing that you can check is your water flow. If you do not have adequate water flow, the cleaner will not perform properly.

Why does my pool cleaner turn upside down? how can i fix it?

Try adjusting your hose weights to see if that corrects the problem. When your cleaner is resting on the bottom of the pool, it should be at 45 degree angle. If it is tilting back toward the hose, try moving the weights closer to the cleaner. If it is tilting forward, try moving the weights away from the cleaner. You might also need to add more hose weight. If the pool cleaner does not have enough weight to hold it down, it will float. You will also want to make sure that you have adequate water flow through the cleaner.

Keeps getting stuck in corners

There are several things that you can try if your pool cleaners getting stuck at corners. First, make sure that the cleaner is getting the proper water flow and adjust it if necessary. Also, make sure that you inlets are adjusted so that they are pointed down and at the center of the pool. This will ensure that the cleaner is pointing in the right direction. Check your hose weights to make sure that they are correct. You will know they are right if the cleaner is sitting at a 45 degree angle with the pool's bottom when resting.

My cleaner works for a few minutes, climbs a wall and rolls over onto it's head.

If the problem always occurs when the pool cleaner starts to climb walls, there are a few things that you will want to check. First of all, if your pool has a vinyl liner, this pool cleaner has limited climbing ability. You need to check the flow of water through the cleaner with your flow gauge. It might be low. If it is, increase the water flow. Also, make sure that your hose weight positioning is correct. The cleaner should sit at a 45 degree angle at the bottom of the pool when resting when the weights are right.

My kreppy crawly turns side ways and dosent correct its self

With this brand of pool cleaners, that is almost always going to be a problem with your hose balance. Turn your pump off and observe your Kreepy Krauly. The seal should rest flat on the pool surface and the hose and tubes should be at a 45 degree angle. Adjust hose weights (as follows) one inch at a time until you get the proper balance. If you have a deep and shallow end, adjust to the deep end first.

The hose is too light if it raises toward the surface at a greater than 45 degree angle. Move the weights closere to the cleaner (one inch at a time). If the cleaner is closer to the pool floor, move the weights away from the cleaner.

With these pool cleaners, there is a simple test you can do to see if your cleaner is weighted correctly. Turn the pump off and observe. The hose balance is correct when the cleaner's seal rests flat on the pool floor and the drive tube makes a 45 degree angle with the floor. Adjust the hose weights one inch at a time as needed until the proper balance is achieved. If the hose is too light, or rises toward the furface at an angle greater than 45 degrees, move the weights closer to the cleaner or move the first two weights closer to each other. If the hose is too heavy, less than 45 degree angle, move the weights away from each other.

With these pool cleaners, that is almost always going to be a problem with your hose balance. To determine if your balance is correct, turn off the pump and observe the cleaner. If the hose rises toward the surface at an angle greater than 45 degrees, move the weights closer to the cleaner or move the first two weights closer to each other. If the hose sags at less than a 45 degree angle, move the weights away from the Kreepy Krauly or separate the first two weights away from each other.
