SOURCE: refrigerator is barley cold, still makes ice,

Hi: The fact that it still makes ice tells me the freezer is a zero degrees. When you said condensation in the freezer did you mean frost? If your defrost heater fails it will cause the frost free freezer to build up frost. The frost will build up and block the vent that supplies the cold air to the fresh food. The defrost heater is behind the metal wall at the back of the freezer, at the very bottom. A glass tube with a metal coil in it. The coil can break and stop the defrosting. Replace that. Use a hair dryer to melt the frost from behind the panel. All of it top to bottom. You need to remove all the frost to free up the airways. I hope this helps, Jeff

SOURCE: kenmore fridge. freezer top works, but bottom doesn't.

Either your fan has stopped working, or it is not defrosting. Take the back panel of the freezer off and see if the evaporator coil is iced over, if it is replace the deforst heater, and the deforst thermostat. If the compressor is running the fan if the freezer should be running. Also make sure both your fridge and freezer controls are centered. Putting the freezer on the coldest setting acutally shuts off airflow to the fridge.

There is a starter relay located on the compressor itself (inside the little black box on
the side of the compressor) in back. You will need the model and serial number of the
fridge to get the exact replacement. The model and serial are inside the fridge
on the left side of the fresh food compartment. This is a common failure.

They make a universal replacement also if this part is no longer available
but it is about the size of a red bull can and
requires a couple of wire ties to hold it in place to the chassis.

I hope this helps.

Sears Coldspot 17 frostless freezer not defrosting

One reason for the fan running is that it is trying to distribute the air in the compartment. Look at the very rear of the freezer on the bottom and see if the little vents, which allow water to disperse, are not filled with frozen ice. If so, turn off the fridge (unplug it) and use a hair dryer to melt that ice until it is all gone. That will probably fill the condensation pan under the unit and you'll need to empty it.

Kenmore Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

hi In some cases, a faulty thermostat may not be the cause of a warm refrigerator or freezer. A warm box may also be caused by a defective fan, a blocked fan, or broken or bent fan blades. If the blades are jammed, try to free them. If they're bent, straighten them with pliers. If this doesn't solve the problem, call a professional service person.

On some refrigerators, the door switch operates the evaporator fan. If the fan seems to be malfunctioning, the door switch could be faulty. Test the switch as detailed in the last page, and replace it if necessary.
