Question about Computers & Internet

Acer Aspire AX300 graphics card reads at 116C even though rest of pc temps are around 50C. Sometimes it runs a little slow opening and closing pages, and when playing games (not high resolution games). Does the card need replacing? Pc is 4 years old.

Any card that runs that hot will have problems, you can clean up the cooler and heat sink, put on some new silver thermal paste, give your computer a hover and clear out the dust.

Check the requirements printed at the back of each game. this will tell you if the game runs. If some game is slow try disabling the antivirus while you run the game, remember to restart antivirus afterward.
Do not use software accelerator, majority of them are useless, some of them carries malaware and viruses.

Graphics card evga

Sounds like your fan may be faulty. Your temps should not be exceeding 100C. I would check and make sure your fan is running, and if not have it replaced right away. You are actively damaging your video card if you are letting it run that hot for extended periods of time.

Even though the fan on the graphics card spins, it may still be the power supply. Try another power supply before anything else, its your cheapest option as well as a new motherboard will cost more

Video problems

It looks as though the drivers your system installed for your onboard graphics adapter do not take full advantage of the hardware. I'll link you to the manufacturer for your onboard video solution.

Go here, and follow these directions.

Select Windows XP. (Post back if you don't have this OS!).

Select "IGP Graphics Drivers" in the next box.

Select "SiS66x/SiS76x & SiS67x"

Press go, and then on the next page, choose your location and hit download.

Once you download this file, you'll need to extract it and run the installer. This should help you with your video issues!

Acer Laptop problem

What must be happening is there are programmes and services running in the back ground and depending on how much memory you have installed all these things take up memory allocations. The graphics card when running just minimal programmes like word run at 8MB memory but when running games or dvd the card can run at 64MB of memory so take that off 256MB ogf memory if thats what you have fitted, minus the memory your programmes and services take it doesn't leave much. added with a processor speed of around 1.5GHZ it can make the system slow up if doing more than one thing at a time. Also check back to when this started and go to system restore and look to when it roughly started and see if windows did any updates, if so restore to before the update and see if it still happens.
