How to take apart a Skil electric planer

Skil electric planer.

My planer suddenly stopped working. I have confirmed that power is going into the planer, and assume that the problem is inside.

There does not seem to be an obvious way to dismantle the planer, and any help woiuld be appreciated.

SOURCE: Power Driver is charged - won't work

If you are sure that battery is fine, problem can be in the switch or brushes. I would check switch first - open the driver, take 2 wires and attach battery directly to motor contacts, in case it works, problem is most probably in the switch. Juraj

Is there a fuse or a reset button on a Ryobi 10 inch surface planer. My planer stopped working after getting too hot. Now, it won't even trn on....

check the motor for a thermal over load button
to stop it over heating take more lighter cuts as the motor is a small motor compared to what the cut can be

My Dewalt 735 planer won't turn on. I blew the house fuse a few times, it would start after I came out. Now it won't start at all and it's been a couple days

The 735 draws 15 amps, which is the rating of typical lighting circuits in homes. The receptical in the wall is sometimes 15 amps although those circuits usually have 20 amp breakers. Since you said "fuse", it might be a bad fuse or even the wiring between the two. Circuit breakers go bad also. If you can confirm the receptical supplies voltage, it is time to check the 735.

Unknown if the device has a termal switch inside. I doubt it would go bad, but you implied a resting period allowed it to run several more times after the fuse in the basement was replaced. If it reset once, it should do it again. If you can find a diagram, there might be a fuse inside, but someone would have to take it apart to check.

A motor can get so hot that a solder joint inside can let loose and it will never run again. Sometimes the coil (windings of the motor) can short out (melt together) and this will increase how much current goes through it and also generate more heat and melt more windings together. Besides producing a smell, your house fuse would burn out real quick.

I had a chuckle over your 2nd sentence but I dare not say why. If it started after you came out (of the house), why did you not run it for a longer time?

A motor requires more power at the instant of turn on. 15 amps of running current will require 20 amps or more when starting. "slow blow" fuses (vs quick action) and circuit breakers can deal with the short period over current requirements.

My dewalt dw735 planer just stopped working. There is power to the motor and I tried new brushes but still won't turn on. What should I look at next? Thanks Paul

LOOK TO YOUR connections on the electric field as second thing to do. both statorcoils must have the same level on ohms .
BUT it can be remarkable that you then if its not to find in there thats only a broken wire - cable problem or something with or inside the switch. or just an sliding contact.

How do I change the blade? I loosened the three nuts but still am unable to get the blade assembly to come out so I can reverse it.

Hi,
Does the blade move at all??? If not get a hammer and screw driver and tap the blade loose... they can stuck really get atuck in there....also on some you need to completely remove the screws or bolts... they go clean through the blade...

Ge electric dryer. suddenly stopped working. Will

Hi Stv,
There isn't really major problem, but a problem.
You will need to unplugged your unit and take it apart. Are you handy?
If and when the unit is apart look at the motor and the fan exhaust and see if there is a coin or screw is jamming the motor or the fan
while you are in there you may want to clean it up,
That should be the problrm

Skil 10 tablesaw nut keeps getting loose--- tighten nnut start to cut blage stops- check nut it is loose again---- is the the nut cracked and what size is it

It's 5/8-11. If it's cracked you should be able to see the crack with a flashlight when you have tightened it up pretty hard. It would also be kind of mushy to tighten, rather than suddenly stopping.

MY PLANER WILL NOT TURN ON IT WORK OK IT JUST WANT TURN ON I HAVED HAD IT FOR TWO YEARS NO PROBLEM

U will need to check the power switch 1st, this requires testing a "HOT" circuit and you will need a volt meter and knowledge of electrical testing, if the switch tests ok then the motor is defective and will need to be replaced, this should be performed by a qualified repair center, there are adjustments that need to be done after the unit is pulled apart and the motor replaced to insure correct operation of the plainer
