Bad bearing on makita ga4530. How do I get to the upper bearing?

I need to replace the upper bearing on the head section of the armature. I can see in the breakdown there is a snap ring securing this armature into the head assembly but no clue how to get to that ring. the fan of the armature blocks this.

You have to take the gear housing apart, remove the hex-nut and spiral bevel gear on the end of the armature so you can pull the armature out of the bearing. Then remove the retaining ring, o-ring and bad bearing for replacement.

My Makita "GA9020 9"" Angle Grinder has started to vibrate really bad.there seems to be play in the spindal.its used for floor sanding.i was thinking maybe bottom bearing, but just guessing any ideas thanks

Vibrations and excessive play could be caused by one of two or both bearings in the gear housing or the spiral bevel gears. Armature bearings can cause vibrations but usually don't show up as play at the spindle. Also, if the vibration is really bad, you could have several fan blades broke off one side of the armature fan throwing off the balance.

Makita Impact Driver BDT 140 problem

Overheating is usually caused by bad bearings on the front and/or back of the armature. The bearings should spin very freely and the armature should not touch the magnet at all. If one or both bearings overheated it is possible they cooked the lightweight grease out of them and froze up. Another thing to look at is the place where the bearings rest in the housing. If they are melted or deformed causing the armature to rub against the magnet they'll cause a build up of heat and loss of power. If the bearings are bad you have to replace the armature, if the bearing mounts are deformed you have to replace the housing set and armature depending on how much damage was done by the overheating.

I would say you have a bearing going out ether on the motor this web address will take you to a good break down of the housing I would say you need a motor bearing it will also give you a parts # but if you have a bearing supplier somewhere ( I look in yellow pages for electrical motor repair) you might find the bearing for a cheaper price just remember to take the old one with you so you are sure to get the same size. I have found bearing and belts for my table saws are the same as for some clothes washers for about 1/2 the price as ordering from sears
good luck

My 24v new makita drill doesnt hold charge

the new batteries now have a little computer in them, so to speak. when you plug in the battery to the charger and you get the alternate flashing light the battery is bad. if the charger is working and the battery is just not lasting very long the battery may be going bad. there could be a problem in the motor causing your battery to drain too fast. does the drill work normal, no overheating or noise, bad bearing.

Makita 9901--How to remove and replace motor bearings

Do you have a bearing splitter? If so I have used one and then gently tapped the end of the shaft to remove the bearing. The rubber pins fit into holes next to the bearing bore in the housing. You can use a vise and a soft hammer to tap the bearings on. Put the bearing on the vise and tap the opposite end of the shaft. You are on the right track for all these methods.

Makita LS1013 chop saw just started making a bad bearing noise and the elecric brake is not kicking in after the trigger is released.

You will have to check if it is a bearing going and the electric brake may not be getting any power to it now or it could be sticking.

Makita 5010 will not work in random orbital mode

It sounds like the bearing in thee bottom plate is seizing. If you turn the pad by hand does the motor turn. It should be smooth. I would look at that. The bearing number for Makita is 211236-8 or if you can get a generic bearing it is 6002DDW. Let me know
