How to tighten kitchenaid mixer motor head locking lever?

Adjust the head height first, flat paddle should just clear the bowl. Te head height adjustment can be seen in by the hinge looking from the front when the head is raised. Screw in (clockwise) to lower and out to raise. You cannot get the head lock right when head height is miles out

How do I adjust the mixer so that the beater clears - it's too low right now.

Is this for a "tilt neck model? If so, the manual suggests that there is a small screw in between the base stand and the "neck" of the mixer. You should be able to screw it in or out to adjust it. Good luck!

Kitchenaid mixer makes a lot of noise. The beater

Hi - I've been searching for general info on KitchenAid stand mixers and ran across this so I'm throwing my $.02 in... Since KA stand mixer bases are essentially made of cast metal parts, there is a very slim chance that there is a lateral misalignment (side-side) unless it got dropped...eek! Sounds like a head height adjustment issue. Check out this from KitchenAid Conversations:

Good luck.

Have a kitchenaid artesian mixer need to adjust beater depth-it is scraping the bottom of the bowl. Model #KSM150PSEr 325 watts

Hi KELLYSERMAN, this should be pretty easy to do by yourself the instructions for adjusting your beater to bowl clearance is in your Owners Manual. I you don’t have the original manual you can easily download a PDF version of your Owners Manual from the KA website: (http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home).
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals& Guides> and enter the 6 character model number, in your case KSM150 and select the file listed for your model that appears under Owners Manuals (66): KSM150PSER1 (732.33KB) and save that file to your PC. Turn to Page 14 and you will find the instructions for adjusting the mixer head height. I have extracted the instructions below:
Beater to Bowl Clearance
Your mixer is adjusted at the factory so that the flat beater just clears the bottom of the bowl. If for any reason, the flat beater hits the bottom of the bowl or is too far away from the bowl, clearance

Tilt-Head models
• Unplug mixer.
• Lift motor head.
a4417ef.jpg
• Turn screw (A) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater or clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
• Make adjustment with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you over adjust the screw, the bowl lock lever may not lock into place.

I hope this helps! – Howard, Burke, VA

Hi TH1754, you don?t mention your KA mixer model, but you can easily download a PDF version of your Owners Manual from the KA website: (http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home). Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals& Guides> and enter the 6 character model number (for this example, I?ve used a KSM90P mixer) and select the last file listed that appears under Owners Manuals: KSM90PSWW0.pdf (2930.74 KB) and save that file to your PC. You?ll need to have Adobe Reader to be able to open it. Turn to Page 11 and you will find the instructions for adjusting the mixer head height. KitchenAid Countertop Food Mixer

ok firstly if you have a stand mixer with the lift bowl you have to put a dime on the side of the bowl at the base and see how much clearence is needed to be taken away. if the dime gets moved the mixer is ok. if not take off the flat beater, take out the bowl, and look at the back of the stand. just below the motor about 2 inches you will see a screw. turn it to the left a quarter of a turn. dont over adjust do it slowly. if you have the one that you tilt the head back on do the same thing with the screw up to you get to the adjusting part. the screw will be in a different spot on those mixers. it is located in the neck of the mixer. it is right in the area that tilts back. the dime shouldnt fly around the bowl it should just gently get tapped. and never use the wisk when adjusting always use the flat attachment. and always adjust slowly never over adjust.

Read the instruction manual. There is a screw to adjust the beater height, it is where the mixer joins to the stand.
