I have a badger 1 1/3 hp insinkerator. It sounded like there was something in it then stopped working. The top smells fine but under the sink smells like dead fish. Did the motor go?

check to be sure water is not leaking down the side from d/w drain or sink drain if not look inside with flashlight to check for rust if rusted trough time for a new one

Sounds like the cutting blades are bound up tight. UNPLUG THE UNIT UNDER THE SINK!
Use an allen wrench on the bottom of the unit in the motor shaft to turn by hand until it moves freely. Look into top of unit to see if there are any foreign objects that you have freed up in the cutters and remove. Plug in and use.

If this connects into a tee between the sinks, usually if the tee is in the middle of sinks, then often there is a divider in the tee to keep water from backing up the other drain. Remove the tee and inspect to be sure it isn't cloggged. Also put a bucket under the outlet. Try running it this way, if you get good flow you know the disposal is working

I got a question, I unplug my badger 5 and then pluged it back in and it will not turn off. I just unpluged it.

look on the bottom for a little (1/4 round) probably red reset button - press it.

Your disposer is jammed. Locate the wrench that is with the disposer. Mine is in the flip out tray under the sink. It should look like an allen wrench. You can see what the wrench needs to look like by opening your cabinet, and looking at the very bottom of the disposer. Insert your wrench into the socket, and move it forwards and backwards until you free the jam. Then, run a pot of water and ice through the disposer (with it running) to further clean it out.
