Take the through bolt out of the end of the alternator / rotor shaft. it is a long bolt. The shaft from the engine is tapered and unlikely to just pop off. Find a bolt that will screw into the end of the rotor shaft (hardend) find a metal bar that will slide into the rotor long enough so the bolt tightens down on the bar, it will pop the alternator off the tapered shaft

SOURCE: motor runs but have no power coming out of outlets of mygenerator

1 - Check the circuit breakers on the front of the panel where the outlets are located.
2 - Make sure the black molex plug on the back of the panel where the outlets are located is plugged in securely.
3 - Carefully take the plastic endbell off the generator ( you'll need a 7/16 inch wrench and socket) and look for broken or missing brushes, broken wires, etc.
4 - If you're not up for #3 take it to a good repair shop. :-)

SOURCE: generator wont put out enough voltage, only get 107 volts, is this a voltage reg. problem

This problem is either that the engine RPM is too low (most likely), or that there is something amiss in the voltage regulation. Get yourself a DMM that measures Hz, plug it into the output and see if you get 61.5 Hz, if not look for the adjustment on the governor spring. On some Powermates this is a screw that pressed on the governor arm, on others it's a little tab the governor spring attaches to that you bend. Do this at no load. FWIW 61.5 Hz is also 3750 RPM of the engine.

SOURCE: What type of oil for a Coleman 5000 Generator?

You need a quart of regular old SAE 5W30 motor oil with detergent.
The engines on these generators are more or less the same as a lawn mower.
Don't forget to service/change the air cleaner when you change the oil, that should keep your generator producing full power.

Regards,
Carl

In any power generator installation it is always advisable to have a ground/earth rod (minimum 3 ft/1 metre long) attached to the frame of the generator, especially when connecting ancilliaries such as yuor transfer switch. The Earth and Neutral pins of the output sockets on the generator should also be interconnected. They are usually linked at the factory on assembly.
