Your valves are bad they are not seating all the way they look like but there not lawn mower should staert on third pull after you prime with slow prepulls if your compression is under 100lbs valve job time bet on it

Test the battery
if it is under 12v as normal change it; 10v is one dead cell. 8v is two dead cells etc.
if it is not able to hold a charge the engine wont start even with the pull start due to electronics not firing at under 12v
that is probably why it starts with the charger hitting it with 14-18v

Hi alex no that didn't help but i think I found the problem. I pulled the head and found a small peace of head broke off, as I remember the owner said he heard a pop and the engine died, I'm not sure but something like this happened on my John Deere and it would't start either. But thanks for the try

SOURCE: Briggs ans Stratton Quantum 5.5 HP still no spark after changing coil and plug

You are correct, you have a flywheel with magnets in, an electronic ignition unit which when the magnets pass the ignition unit core at speed energises and creates a spark via the plug, the earth wire simply takes the unit to ground and shuts off the spark, the unit you changed was it definetly an electronic unit or just a coil? if electronic and you are cranking the engine fast enough and have the plug well earted against the cylinder with the earth wire not connected it should spark.

SOURCE: Swisher 60" pull behind mower with 14.5 briggs engine. good spark and the starter will crank just fine. If I prime the carb with a little gas it will start imediately but wont continue. Any ideas..

Hi Andy, the carby will need to be removed and all jets cleaned out with compressed air. Basically its not getting enough fuel through the carby to keep running. Regards Phil.

Have a 12.5 briggs Inteck engine its an ohv mod219907 type0131E1 code070323ZA with electric start and a pull start. It will start with 1 turn with the electric start but won't start with the pull starter. ...

I have seen Inteck engines to be very sensitive to valve clearance. IF it is a few years old try adjusting the valve clearance exactly as shown in the manual. The electric starter may give it just enough kick to make the difference.

Toro Electric Start Problem

Remove spark plug and observe condition. Fouled with oil, bad motor. With plug removed pull rope several times to blow out cylinder. Spray WD40 in spark plug hole, pull rope several times see if oil blows out. Spray a lot of starter fluid in spark plug hole, replace plug. Spray starter fluid in air cleaner area of carb, try to start. Replace spark plug, try to start. Ensure oil is full, all mowers have a low oil sensor now. 30w oil. Always use Stabile in gas.

If you think the rope pulls too easily the engine may not have enough compression. Consider doing a compression test or a leak-down test on the cylinder.

Lawn mower won't start

to check for firing remove the spark plug insert it in the plug boot and pull the rope while watching to see if the plug sparks be carefull not to touch the plug electrode while pulling the rope or it will shock you. If you don't have a spark, try a different plug. If still no spark the coil could be bad.

I have a Snapper Briggs & Stratton lawn mower Model Series 126T00 and for some reason it will not start.I drained the gas tank ,put fresh gas in it. I did a caburetor kit and it still will not start....

How about the key way? Its the timing of the motor. Its under the pull rope and the wheel under the pull rope. Might be cut or broke in half.
