I have HL DT ST DVDRAM GSA 4167B and i've use it for 4 years -worked ok. Starting now it dont read dvd's nor it burns an empty one.The message is there is no drive in your 'cd' drive (dvdcd appears onli when dvdcd drive is empty). Drive can read/write cd's only.Please help me.

- I remove the dvdcd drive from my computer and I've tryed on an other one, and it woreked just fine.It is not the devise, it is the system .Should I repair my windows XP?

- My problem is solved -I've sipmply used power supply wire (cable?!-sorry for my english) on withch are conected the smolest number of devises(so it wont be shearing the cable with an other devise).Now it also reads dvd's that it das not readed in the past years.

it appears to be your "Lens" problem...
Use a Lens Cleaning Solution to Clean the Dust over the Lens, Perhaps that might help...!

- Yes, it appears to be a system Problem! Its recommended to Re-Install Windows XP...
