I have briggs inteck 12.5 on a snapper 30 inch mower. Mod 219907 type 0131E1 thecode070323ZA It has a battery start and a pull rope start. The battery is dead but using the Battery charger on start it will start on the first turn and run fine and idle perfect, but when try it with the pull rope it won't start. The carb has been cleaned, I have good blue spark at the plug. I haven,t ever ran into this kind of a problem can someone help? THANKS

This same thing happens to me and I resolve it by taking the gas line off in front of the carb and blowing air through it.....then it will run fine. I realized I could do this when I took the air cleaner off and fed it gas manually and it ran fine....and I also had gas pumping through the fuel pump. I'm not sure of the problem....either the fuel pump is losing power or their is something blocking the carburator intermitantly

it should charge the battery itself ,if you have rnn the engine even for a few seconds without abattery connected you will have burnt out the rectifier under the fly wheel, that will probabley be your main trouble

Hi and welcome to FixYa I am Kelly.

This post is listed under the Intek V-Twin engine that would be engine model number 281707-0148-01 so I am making my recommendations based on that model number. If your ENGINE model number is different from the one above please respond with the number.

It sure sounds like there may be a compression problem. All other elements
Fuel, Air and spark are in place. If you can not get even a backfire it sounds like there may be a valve sticking open. Probably more than one if not even one cylinder is firing.

I have one question..... Has this engine been sitting unused for a while?

Lets start with something simple. (again based on 2 cyl engine but procedure would be the same for a single cylinder)

1. Remove both spark plugs
2. Spray a very generous amount of WD 40 in BOTH spark plug holes.
3. Use the starter and turn the engine through for about 5 seconds
4. Again spray WD 40 into the cylinder head via the spark plug holes and let it soak for about 15 minutes.
5. Turn the engine through again with the starter for at least 15 seconds. Pause 1 min and then another 15 seconds.
6. With assistance Use your thumb to cover the spark plug hole opening and check each cylinder for compression

Compression = Yes / Install spark plugs and try starting.

Compression NO ... If engine is OHV remove valve cover cap(s) and spray WD 40 through the valve springs onto the valve stems then let them soak for about 15 minutes.
Turn the engine through again

Flat head engine

Remove cylinder head only and check the valve seats for coking in the seats. ESPECIALLY the exhaust valve. There should be a visual ring where the valve mates to the valve seat. If you can not see a visual ring then the valve seats should be hand lapped with valve grinding compound. (Valve Spring will have to be disconnected but NOT removed to hand lap with valves grinding compound)

Once you get a ring that you notice on the valves then reconnect the springs and install the head.

Check for compression with your thumb by having the engine turned through.

You really should have compression at this point.

Install spark plug and start the engine.

Insert the rope through the handle from the bottom. Draw a tight knot on the very end of the rope and pull the knot back into the handle.

My Snapper 48" zero turn is running batteries dead. I just replaced the battery cut my yard once and the battery is dead. What are some possibilities?

The charging circuit is faulty and is not charging the battery when the engine is running. Best case is a bad connection or frayed cable, worst case is a faulty alternator.

I have a inteck briggs motor on a snapper 30inch mower it has a battery start and a pull rope start it has startd with 2 pulls as the battery is over a year old thts why i have been using the pull start....

test the battery
if it is under 12v as normal change it; 10v is one dead cell. 8v is two dead cells etc.
if it is not able to hold a charge the engine wont start even with the pull start due to electronics not firing at under 12v
that is probably why it starts with the charger hitting it with 14-18v

Need to adjust rubber drive clutch on 30 inch snapper mower

there are small metal beads on the cable near the pedal you move to the other side of the pedal if the friction wheel is warn you will need to replace it only 3 nuts hold it on just flip the mower up on the rear bar and take it off no fancy tools needed

My Briggs & Stratton 500 Series with model 10T502, Type 0495 B1, and Code 07011 855 failed to start after I cleaned it because the rope/string had no tension on it. What do I need to do to get it...

Does the starter rope rewind? If So and You removed the engine shroud you have to be sure the Pull Starter lines up with the flywheel nut. If the rope does not rewind the return spring is broken so you have to get a spring and remove the shroud and install it. I would take the shroud off and with me to get the spring and the place may install it for you. Bolt the shroud back on and you should be in business.

I have a Snapper Briggs & Stratton lawn mower Model Series 126T00 and for some reason it will not start.I drained the gas tank ,put fresh gas in it. I did a caburetor kit and it still will not start....

How about the key way? Its the timing of the motor. Its under the pull rope and the wheel under the pull rope. Might be cut or broke in half.
