This could be bad, but this is a good sign that the rings are bad or a scored cylinder. might have to be rebuilt or think about junking

Ford transit 110 T280 I've back smoke on excellaration and loss of power on inclines; could it be the EGR valve at fault ; also have management warning light on.?

Needs piston rings. You have lost compression so you are losing power. The oil is getting pasty the worn rings and entering the combustion chamber which would explain the black smoke and loss of power.

White smoke coming out of exhaust, engine not overheating loss of power does not appear to be losing water

White smoke from the exhaust is a sign of coolant entering the combustion chamber. You say no coolant loss, or overheating. Is there a white foamy substance under the oil cap, & air bubbles escaping from the radiator? If so you have a leak and more than likely it is a blown head gasket. I would have a cooling system pressure test run. Do not continue to drive this Ford in this condition. Something is not right and you need to find out what is going on.

Head gasket

Typical symptoms of a blown headgasket may include: -bubbles of air coming up into your radiator (remove cap before starting) -leaking radiator -milkshake colored oil -overheating -rough running -coolant or oil running from head -spark plug(s) that have a green tint (if green coolant). -white colored or sweet smelling exhaust, white smoke of your tail pipe, or loosing coolant through your overflow

the bubbles are nothing unless you get too many ,you will always see a few but not to excess if you do then renew the rubber hoses under the bonnet and ontop of the tank. But without having it front me the cause of the smoke and the power loss would be the ERG valve ,this is the valve that connects the inlet manifoltd to the exhaust manifold ,try pulling off the rubber vac pipe that runs to the top of this valve and see what happens ,bet the smoke clears and it runs ok .

I have a 2002 kawasaki prairie 650. i think i have a blown head gasket on the rear cyclinder. how can i be sure it is a blown head gasket?

Check the seal behind your water impeller there are o rings back there if one of them goes bad you will leak antifreeze into oil, your impeller is run by the oil pump i believe, you should not see oil in the water also your bike will run fine but when hot will foul the plug with water look for white smoke sometimes and the smell of anti freeze on start up
i have a 400 4x4 doing the same thing new piston rings and top end now lossing water but runs great oil looks real thin
took to the dealer to fix this week will let you know how i make out.
