Question about Furniture
Some folks like to speak "typical" & "in general..."
I prefer Fahrenheit... with model numbers
e.g. KITCHENAID, model KUWS24RSSS 14...
is an AMERICAN made gorgeous.. stainless steel 2 zone... pullout shelf UNIT that my wife was dying to get...
Now it's killing me.
NOT CHEAP... fully warrantied ... REALLY BIG PRICE...
REALLY no CUSTOMER support (I input multiple complaints/appeals for info/assistance & never got a boo or howdy back from anyone (my opinion... my wasted money...
(my warm wine)).
Cheesy ... poorly constructed and shabby design
(few parts available... ZERO response from
FAN bracket was designed to be in direct conflict
with the refrigerant return line... if INSTALLED CARELESSLY...
which of course It WAS.
It took about 5 years and 2 months to wear a hole into the ALUMINUM return side of that SAD little aluminum evaporator,
The shelves should be labelled and simply lifted out.
Electronic refrigerant sniffer would be used by the professionals to locate the precise leak source (Amazon & Granger retail these items, see below)
Or... After you attach the self piercing SUPCO valves
You can prove the fault by attaching a refrigeration vacuum pump
and some REFRIGERANT GAUGES (also below) simple piece of duct tape... Meaning you will be looking at either trying to cut and fit an after-market coupling onto a straight section... or you are going to learn aluminum BRAISING.
Aside from the chance of melting the plastic interior... there are the additional deadly gases that can be released by a flame & Freon.. and a flame and styrene plastic insulation (deadly
(vent really WELL or don't worry about results)).
Protect surfaces with ceramic soldering shields.
The whole "cooler" only needs a can of R134
(autoparts store, Amazon, eBay... or harbor-freight).
Always wear gloves and goggles...Be safe!
Hope this helps.
Amazon com HiwowSport 18 24 inches High Temp Carbon Fiber Welding...
R134 gauges & pumps (check for CENTIGRADE (CELCIUS)).
(Display only... check for Fahrenheit (not metric)).

Your PTC relay on the compressor is bad needs to be replaced.
First be sure to unplug cooler. Remove the cardboard cover that covers most backs of the units. Remove the plastic cover that is on the side of compressor. It is held on with a metal clip. Now you should be able to see the relay pry the relay straight off. note the wiring and position of relay. Only three prongs on compressor. Go to a parts house for appliance's and with your make and model number should be able to get a new one. Let me know if you need any more help. ken

If the light is on and no fan or compressor is running then its your thermostat that is bad. Thats the only thing that turns on those parts.
