How to replace air controller topside

If you need to replace the control panel altogether, there are a few things you should know beforehand. Before you purchase a new panel, make sure it's compatible with your existing spa control pack. There is often a part number on the existing top side panel when you pull it out of the housing. A sticker is typically on the side indicating a part number from the manufacturer. Otherwise, get the number for your spa control pack and call the manufacturer to find out which top side panel will work for you.

Replacing a topside control panel is a fairly simple process. First, turn off the power to the unit. Remove the spa access panel and take the cover off of the control box and unplug the wire that goes form the topside panel to the circuit board. Gently remove the topside control panel. Remove the plastic from the self-stick backing of the topside controller. Place the topside controller in the place of the previous one. Plug in the topside wire to the circuit board and power back up the spa to test the function of the new unit.

How do I reattach the tube that leads from the light button to the air switch in the control panel? I can not find the air switch.

First of all, possible correction to the other answer...
If you have a Circuit Board, you probably do NOT have...
  • Air Button
  • Air Switch
  • Air Tubing
And, if you do have ...
  • Air Tubing
  • Air Button
  • And Air Switch
You probably do not have a Circuit Board!

Most commonly, circuit boards are on an Electronic control system. Air buttons are associated with a Mechanical control system.

Now, let me do my best to try to help you out here, lets say you do NOT have a circuit board (per your description of the problem in your question) and you do have an Active Mechanical system that utilizes an air button with tubing to a air switch/sensor.
That air switch will be normally installed in the control box, along one of the vertical sides, rarely are they on the bottom or back. I have never seen one on the front! They will have the nipple portion of the switch (the part the tubing connects to) protruding thru the side, so the tube can connect to it.
The switch will look something like...

25733123-behugfiqwutr4zayjk2rtvrx-5-0.jpg Or...

25733123-behugfiqwutr4zayjk2rtvrx-5-1.jpg Or it could be a multifunction switch, but possibly not for a light...

25733123-behugfiqwutr4zayjk2rtvrx-5-2.jpg Now, sometimes - some spa manufacturers utilized a completely separate system for the function of the light! It does not have the air sensor/switch within the main control box! That could be the reason you can't find where to put the air tubing? So if your system is Mechanical, you may have a separate transformer with a built in air switch off somewhere in the equipment bay? It will be a small unit with a black wire and white wire (small gauge) going to the light bulb, and a bigger sheathed wire that will be going to the control box for a 120v power supply.
It will look something like this...

Viking Destiny River 2013 hot tub led tub lights not working. Can hear relay engage when pressing lights on control panel. All not working.

Not exactly sure of your question?
If you pressed 'Light' button on topside control, do any lights come on, some lights, or No lights? Does the light 'Icon' come on, on the topside?
if there is an indicator on the topside that comes on when you press the appropriate button, then the communication between the topside and circuit board have been completed, and that action should work, in your case, the light should come on. If no indicator, that means circuit board received no communication to power the light (s). So... you hear a click? So do you also an indicator that lights should be on, if so - no lights are working, wire to light fixture is either unplugged, or light or lights are burned out, or bad wire connection.
if no indicator on topside control panel = Bad/dead light 'Button', which means bad panel - since you can't repair a button on a topside control panel.

What does "Firmware Rev B 13" n on indoor control panel? Help! Robert

The firmware message is the firmware on the wall mount control. The wall control would seem to be getting power, giving you the firmware rev only. Your communication with the main board has been lost, broken wire, main board has gone bad or for some other reason can not receive and instruction from the main board. If you have a spa side control, if spa side works then board may be ok, look for bad wire. If spa side is not working disconnect and power cycle the system and try the wall mount with spa disconnected. You may only need to replace the main board. More info on your system would be needed in order to suggest the proper replacement.

Use a high quality external temp probe and make sure the temp sensor in your system is correctly reading the water temp.
If the water is truly 110 then you may need to replace the board completely.

I just bought an old spa from someone and the control panel is not turning on. It was rebuilt a while back and according to the original owner it was working, and when I drained it it appeared it was being...

If you are SURE there is correct power up to the spa pack you need to check to see that the topside control is plugged into the board.
if it is plugged in, it is either the 24volt transformer supplying the topside control, or the topside control is failed.
Did you hook up the hot tub?
Most common cause of topside complete failure is connecting to an improper power supply. This will immediately fry the transformer, and also maybe the topside control. It you are luck there would be a small 2 amp fuse next to the transformer.
If the whole board is without power, but you know power is going into it, it could be the main 50 amp fuse, which is usually white and about 1.25" long

Panel reads HHO-----, no temperature display until activate jets, then shows a temperature drop sometimes down to 65 degrees ,then starts heating upwith jets going

"OH" is an overheat error. In normal function, it is used as a safety shut off if the spa water temperature reaches over 110 degrees in the event of a thermostat failure. But more commonly, (if the water temp hasn't gotten too hot) it indicates that the temp sensor(s) have failed. If you have a digital display on the topside controller of your spa, then it is a circuit board controlled spa pack. Most spa builders use the same control pack manufacturer - Balboa Watergroup. The sensor kit usually consists of 2 probes and wires that plug directly onto the circuit board. Depending on the spa, they could both be located onto the heater manifold, or one on the manifold and one mounted to the tub making direct contact with the water via a thru-wall sensor mount. If I knew the spa manufacturer, I could further assist you. If you replace the sensors, and encounter the same problem... then the circuit board is bad, and usually a costly replacement. The sensors are usually listed as a "BA sensor assy" Hope this helps you,
