Toshiba touchpad doesnt respond after 2 minutes

This issue could be a few things. 1. Make sure your driver for the mouse and keyboard are updated. 2. The mouse pad may be going bad. 3. There may be an issue with the motherboard. I would recommend checking your driver first. Then replace the mouse pad. You can also pick up a wireless mouse and plug the usb that comes with it into a usb port if you are not comfortable tearing apart your laptop.

Dot s touchpad not responding

Use an usb mouse to select control panel and then select device management. From there you need to select the mouse and from there select the mouse and right click on it. Select to uninstall the device. Then close all screens and shut down computer. Unplug the usb mouse and restart the computer. If after it completes loading and it doesn't work the you will need a new touch pad. But if it does work it means windows had an corrupt update which caused the problem. Thanks Igor!

I have a Toshiba Tecra M8 and the touchpad stopped working. I can still use a USB mouse, but i've tried the FN F9 key to make sure that the touchpad is enabled but it still isn't working. Are there drivers...

Check in the device manager and see if the touchpad is listed under pointing devices. If it is not there try add hardware and see if it detects the hardware. If it is there check to see if it says device is working properly. Sometimes touchpads require software to operate properly so check and see if software was uninstalled. You can also download the drivers/software from Toshiba, try removing the touchpad in the device manager and then re-booting the computer. When windows re-boots it should start installing new hardware found. Use the driver/software you downloaded from Toshiba. If none of these work your touchpad may be bad.

My touchpad mouse won't work. it does not respond

If you are using XP, check your mouse settings under Control Panel. Make sure that your Touch Pad is enabled. If it is but it still won't work, have a mouse plugged into a USB port that will work correctly. Then download the latest driver from the Acer site for your touchpad. Uninstall the driver that is currently being used by your system. Then install the updated driver that you downloaded. This should allow you to use your Touch Pad. If not, you may have to take your laptop in for servicing.

Mouse Pointer moves itself and hide in corner

You might want to try using an external USB mouse.  Or looking for touchpad driver/utility updates to install for your toshiba model such as http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=SB&os=&category=&moid=2060181&rpn=PTMB3U&modelFilter=M10-S1001&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768664&selModel=2060181|PTMB3U

Erratic cursor

It happens with both? Sounds like it may be a driver or motherboard issue.

Check the HDD for errors with Checkdisk (Start -> Run -> cmd -> Ok -> chkdsk /f
Try redownloading the touchpad/mouse drivers from the Toshiba site

Mouse cursor moving by itself

In windows xp go into start menu, then into control panel then click on appearance and themes, then move your mouse over to mouse pointers click on it , uncheck "enhance pointer precision, and click apply, that will stop the mouse from acting crazy, this will work with dell mouse pointers and most.
