We sold our bosch dishwasher, working perfectly. New owners transported it on its back. Now it won't start, or even show that it is getting power, though the outlet works. What has happened?

Hello KT;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

Transporting the dishwasher on its back should not have been a problem. It is only with refrigerators and freezers that need to be transported up right, to prevent compressor oil getting into the refrigerant sealed system.

You may have a power cord problem. You have a 3 or 4 wire power cord. If you have a 3 wire power cord you need a 15 amp circuit breaker. If you have a 4 wired power cord you need a 30 amp circuit breaker.

The wall socket that you are plugged into my not have a ground.

You need to check the wall socket and the wire connects at the dishwasher. Send me a model number so I can see what you have. If you have a 4 wire connection you can chance the cord to a 3 wire. On a three wire you have a neutral and two hot with a small green ground wire. On a 4 wire you have a neutral two hot wires and a neutral in the center with a ground wire.

I would put my money on the wall socket not having a ground.

Send me a model number and I will help you.

Replace cord in Rowenta Iron

0) Unplug the iron.

1) Remove the (2 or more) screws holding the plastic bottom plate (that the iron stands up on).
The screws are likely to be #20 Torx "Security" screws -- for which you will need a special bit for your nut/screwdriver. A kit of various sizes of Torx security bits will cost you about $10.

2) Remove the plastic cord-holder assembly from the iron.
2a) If the cord-holder is held in place with screws (you are in luck!), simply unscrew them. If you see no screws, then it is being held in place by several (probably 4) plastic tabs that you must simultaneously release. This makes the job much more fiddly. Use a small/medium blade screwdriver to carefully bend and hold each of the plastic tabs out of the way of the latches. You'll need one screwdriver per tab/latch! Take care not to break the tabs...
2b) Carefully wiggle/pull/work the cord-holder assembly out of the iron taking care not to bend the pins of the integral plug (inside the iron) that are seated in the cord-holder socket. Basically, with the iron resting on its metal surface, pull/pry/wiggle the cord-holder straight upward until the cord-holder (socket) pulls free of the (3 or more) stiff wires that function as a "plug".

3) Note that there are 2 crimp-on connectors attaching the 2 wires of the cord to the rest of the wires in the iron. Take a photo of the wires and jot down notes of which wires are connected together. NOTE: One of the cord wires is "neutral" and is attached to the wider spade at the plug end of the cord. Typically the "neutral" wire is marked with a white stripe or ridge down length of the cord. Don't mix up the "neutral" wire and the "hot" wire when you re-connect them in a later step!

4) Cut off the crimp-on connectors and separate all the wires.

5) Remove the cord from the system of zig-zagging "strain-relief" notches that hold the cord securely in place. You may have to remove a small plastic clip first.

6) Cut off 6 inches of the cord. (Or supply a new cord, if the cord has been shortened too much in previous repairs.) This eliminates the broken section wire within the cord. You may use an ohm meter to verify that both wires have a low resistance again (less than 1 ohm).

7) Route the cord back into the "strain-relief" notches in the cord-holder. Don't forget the plastic clip (if there was one)...

8) Strip all wires, exposing about 3/8" of copper on each.

9) Referring to your notes and photo, re-connect all wires using proper-sized plastic wire-nuts for secure connections.

10) Re-attach the cord-holder to the iron body. Make sure you line up the stiff wire pins with the cord-holder socket. Push the cord-holder into place and secure it (via screws or snap-in-place plastic tabs).

11) Replace the plastic cover, taking care to position the wire-nuts and wires to allow it to drop into place without forcing it. Secure the cover with screws.

12) Plug in the iron and test it out!

I found that GE offer a specific plug which allows four connections:

You may need to find out if you have such a socket or how to produce such a socket.

I have an Ovation Celebrity Koa with the OP-30 system in it. When I plug it in, I don't always get sound. I changed the battery, and have a new patch cord. Can someone help me?

where the socket is for the cord to be plugged in, often the ground will come loose or break on the socket connection, you will need to take off the plate that conceals the electronics of the guitar and see if any wires have become damaged , this happens a lot when your using a patch cord with a 90 degree end going into the guitar , it puts added pressure on a already touchy socket.

My MP3 YP-U3 donĀ“t power up

the battery might be dead. or u might have to take it apart and charge the battery by hand. ive done this before and it workd. i used a usb cord (5 Volts Max) wat ever u do do not charge the battery with anything over 5 volts. the battery inside the mp3 player is 3.7 volts, so be careful. It unplugs from the chip inside and the battery is easy to get out DO AT UR OWN RISK - PARTS ARE SMALL AND CAN BRAKE WHEN HANDLE CARELESSLY all u gotta do is find the seems on the sides and pull the player apart until it cracks open. then pull the connection tabs up for the usb and buttons from the chip, then by the hold button the chip will be guled to a ground, pull it apart and filp over the chip and u will see a lil clear plug with black (-) and red (+) wires on it, un plug it and set everything else aside, all u need is the battery. Now u need to find a old usb cord laying around and cut the end off that doesnt conect to the computer, splice the cord so that the wires are showing, cut them off EXCEPT FOR THE BLACK AND RED, now plug in the cord to a computer, or game console (ex. Xbox 360, Wii, PS2) then forcefuly slide the black wire onto the black (-) prong on the battery plug, same thing with the red one (+)
then let it set for 15 mins. now u have to conect everything back the way it was and snap the player back together and see if it will come on, if not you might have to take it back and get a new one if you have ur receat. i hope this works remember be very careful with the inside componets. Good Luck!

I have no power on my dishwasher. I ran an extension cord to another outlet that I know has power and still nothing. I don have any led lights or anything. Can you help. GE model # GHDA960K03BB. Thank...

Few components may cause power failure to your Dishwasher.
1. Disconnect your power plug from the socket outlet.
2. Trace the cord to where it connected to your dishwasher.
3. Tight those connectors firmly .
4. Plug back your dishwasher power cord .Start your dishwasher.
If nothing happen, check if control board came with fuse or bimetal. check the continuity of the fuse., You may also check your latch assembly. If no power still change the console or the control board.
