Question about HP Pavilion zd8000 Notebook

1 Answer

No boot up

U have a hp zd8000 notebook with 128 vram and 3.00 intel cpu could be coincidence but after a antivirus update on restart i had message at boot saying no device/drivers/OS loaded i tried turning on and off several times afterwhich it failed to even go to bios screen and even boot at all just a black screen .but the pc turns on showing the led lights an the fans run.I dismantled and re-seated the cpu replacing thermal paste and even installed new 1 gig 2x512 memory and a new HD still no boot.any advice welcomed as i am informed even second hand mobo 374709-001 will cost arround £300 inclusive vat.del.This makes me think it would be cheaper to scrap and buy a newer model

I'd see if you could take the disk to a computer store and have them recover the data if it is important to you, and then reinstall a new operating system.  The first rule of computers is that the software is not allowed to damage the hardware, so it's unlikely that your hardware is damaged.  A new hard drive shouldn't cost more than 50$ and should take care of everything after a fresh install if you are too worried about losing your data

Can i adjust the fan speed in the bios on my hp zd8000

You don't have to reduce the FAN speed, because the Fan power works in PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). I.E if the CPU processing is increasing due to high process load, the fan speed changes accordingly to maintain a CPU normal temperature.

My hp zd8000 is not rebooting and been told i need a new motherboard

Before you start thinking about your motherboard, let's rule out your harddrive.

Go online and Google "emergency boot cd" and choose a product that works for you. Many have "demos" you can use with limited capability, but that's fine. You will need to take the .iso file and burn a CD with it. This will create a bootable CD.

You will need to setup the computer to boot from a CD by going into BIOS and setting the boot sequence to CD first. If you don't know how to do that, here's a good article...
http://www.cites.illinois.edu/security/antivirus/bios.html

Using your newly created CD, put it into CD drive and start boot up. If your computer boots normally, you have a harddrive tht has failed. If not, you may have a motherboard issue, or possibly a different hardware issue that may require professional assistance.
