Need to change cartridge region code on HP 6310 Officejet to use US ink cartridges in Europe

    I saw a similar solution on your website and tried it.

    I cannot get by Stage 1...when i press the rt. and lt. arrows I just get a triple bleep and the error message remains on the printer. Any other ideas?

    I did not before, but I have now and can still only get, "both cartridges are not intended for this computer" Anything else I can try?

    Thank you for the ideas. I have not heard of a cartridge or ink reseter. Do you buy these in a store or is it a process you complete.

Hi there,

Here's how to make it work:
1.Turn on the printer
2. press the left and right arrows at the same time (printer asks for a code)
3. enter 1 2 7 on the number keypad (menu MFG XXXX is displayed where XXXX is the mfg code)
4. press left arrow until "boot code" is displayed (1 time maybe more)
5. hit ok
6. left or right arrow until "set to, mfg mode" is displayed
7. select ok (mode set mfg is displayed for several seconds)
8. your finished press cancel until the main screen is shown where the error was.
9. turn off and turn on.
(Note screen will now display "DO NOT ship unit in its current state, but it should print.) Now you can print but to copy and scan open the HP solution center on the computer.

    did you do pressing the l/r buttons for at least 10 seconds..?

    have you try to reset the cartridge,? this tools(cartridge reseter) will reset the microchip on the ink,sometimes you need to reset if you are using only a compatible ink, the printer need to recognize it as a original ink, to do the trick you may try to use a ink reseter.

Hi, the officejet 6310 takes ink and can be ordered from most online stores like staples, cartridge world and amazon, All will vary in price, but always stick to the official HP inks although they are more expensive the compatibles do cause problems. below is a link to the cartridges you will need to purchase.

Unfortunately i cannot attach files to this message otherwise i would put the manual on here, which on page 95 shows step by step on how to change the ink cartridges. I can email this to you if you provide an email address for me. below i have copied the instructions from the manual, but there missing illustrations, so might be a bit hard to follow. please let me know if you require any further help.

Replace the print cartridges
Follow these instructions when the ink level is low.
Maintain the HP All-in-OneNote When the ink level for the print cartridge is low, a message appears on
the display. You can also check the ink levels by using the software installed
with the HP All-in-One.
When you receive a low-ink warning message on the display, make sure you have a
replacement print cartridge available. You should also replace the print cartridges
when you see faded text or if you experience print quality issues related to the print
cartridges.
To order print cartridges for the HP All-in-One, go to www.hp.com/learn/suresupply. If
prompted, choose your country/region, follow the prompts to select your product, and
then click one of the shopping links on the page.
For a list of print cartridge numbers, see the back cover of this guide.
Tip You can also use these instructions to replace the black print cartridge
with a photo print cartridge for printing high-quality color photos.
To replace the print cartridges
1. Make sure the HP All-in-One is on.
Caution If the HP All-in-One is off when you open the print cartridge door
to access the print cartridges, the HP All-in-One will not release the
cartridges for changing. You might damage the HP All-in-One if the print
cartridges are not docked safely on the right side when you try to remove
them.
2. Open the print cartridge door.
The print carriage moves to the far right side of the HP All-in-One.

3. Wait until the print carriage is idle and silent, and then lightly press down on a
print cartridge to release it.
If you are replacing the tri-color print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from the
slot on the left.
If you are replacing the black or photo print cartridge, remove the print cartridge

Maintain the HP All-in-One1 Print cartridge slot for the tri-color print cartridge

4. Pull the print cartridge toward you out of its slot.
5. If you are removing the black print cartridge in order to install the photo print
cartridge, store the black print cartridge in the print cartridge protector or an
airtight plastic container.
If you are removing the print cartridge because it is low or out of ink, recycle the
print cartridge. The HP Inkjet Supplies Recycling Program is available in many
countries/regions, and lets you recycle used print cartridges free of charge. For

6. Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging and, being careful to touch
only the black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab.

2 Plastic tape with pink pull tab (must be removed before installing)
3 Ink nozzles under tape
Caution Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles.
Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical
connections.

Maintain the HP All-in-One7. Slide the new print cartridge forward into the empty slot. Then gently push on the
upper part of the print cartridge forward until it clicks into the socket.
If you are installing the tri-color print cartridge, slide it into the left slot.
If you are installing a black or photo print cartridge, slide it into the right slot.
8. Close the print cartridge door.
9. If you installed a new print cartridge, the print cartridge alignment process begins.
10. Make sure you have plain paper loaded in the input tray, and then press OK.
11. The HP All-in-One aligns the print cartridges. Recycle or discard the print
cartridge alignment sheet.
12. Press OK.

hello, some of the time the color ink cartridge can cause the problem, especially if its a refilled ink, but at same time, i do know some of the new inks right out of the box will fail. so try with a new color cartridge first.

To solve the printing problem..

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel. # Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right). # Continue doing this until it looks clean. # Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing. # Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.
1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier. 2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.
# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

The 6310 takes a #95 tri-color cartridge. #901 is for Officejet 4500 and 4600 series printers.

Hi for solution do this
First put out of the printer the Ink Cartriges then
press 4 + # + OK this send you a info menu
with the nav. Keys go to CHECKSUM FOR RELOCK DATA IMPUT press Ok 5 times . Then Go out there by pressing Cancell Button ant there you go if this dosnt work at the 1rs time you need 2 o 3 times more to ensure relock data ok

How do we change the ink cartridge on a HP 6310?


Hi kscherington,
The short version. Grab the bottom of the cartridge, which is under the printers display window. Pull up & the hole scanner bed and keyboary assembly will lift up as one. Keep the power turned on while doing this. Once opened the ink carridge will move to the right where you can replace your cartridge.
You can go to pg. 96 through pg. 99 in your manual.
