Question about Rock & Ice Climbing

Open Question

I've got a crf150 2004 model I think and then I ride it it some times clickers back to neutral it doesn't matter what gear it is it always does it every once in a while sometimes it only does it once but others up to 4 times. Can anyone help me?

I just had to replace the gov solenoid and sensor in trans.Would do same thing ,feel like someone shifted to neutral.

have a transmission tuneup performed which may solve the problem. also have them check for metal shavings in the pan. take filter off and replace filter which could solve your problem. also may need a shift kit on the valve body.

Nothing to fear. The shift forks ride on a long spiral grooved drum which has some inertia. If you stomp the gear, sometimes the inertia will carry the shift fork beyond it's intended destination. The various gears are constant mesh with it's mating gear, but are not coupled to it's shaft. The gear, when selected, carries a fixed 'dog' that couples to a sliding 'dog' which is controlled by the appropriate shift fork and is splined to the shaft the gear is riding on. These 'dogs' are like fingers which stick out on the sides of gears and sliders. The reason you have to rock the bike is because the 'dogs' are fairly coarse and don't instantly fit together except when the bike is in motion.

Honda CBF 125 neutral light always on - please help..


Try cleaning the sensor. It is at the bottom of the gearbox, near the gear pedal. You'll see a small wire, disconnect that and unscrew the sensor. If cleaning doesn't help, you will need to replace it..

Switch???


PTO stands for Power Take Off. Sounds like a couple of things need work, or replacement. Would look at any electrical connections or sensors that are attached to the control for "neutral" sensing - usually that is a safety feature that prevents you from starting while in gear. Also would look at the control itself for proper operation or worn components.

HI Sandra

First let me start with explaining what they mean by " the inhibitor switch" . This device is really called the neutral safety switch. It's called that because the function of this switch is to prevent the vehicle from being started while the shift lever is in drive, reverse or any of the lower gears. Meaning that the car can only be started while the shifter is in park or neutral. This is only a safety device. What your problem sounds like is that this switch is not positioned correctly. When the switch is in the right position it recognizes if the car is in park or neutral or in gear. if adjusted correctly (and it's only a matter of millimeters) the car starts in park or neutral. if it's out of position (which is what your problem sounds like it wont let the car start). All that needs to be done is to position the switch correctly. Of course there is always the outside chance that the switch itself if faulty, still this is far from a costly repair. Go to a transmission shop and tell them you need your safety neutral switch adjusted because the car will not start in park sometimes. This should cost you at the most $30. Unless the switch is bad, the of course it could be as much as $200 to replace. I hope this helps you.

Kawasaki vn1500 2nd gear jumping out


Hi, make sure your lever is adjusted to your foot. You can turn the linkage arm adjuster up or down to get a better throw on the lever. If you don't wear boots when riding, this is always a problem on a Kawasaki due to the positive neutral finder. The fist question you get when you call the Kawasaki Hotline is if the rider wears boots or not.
If adjusting the lever doesn't help the problem is internal. Under the gear change cover the items to check would be the pawl that rotates the drum and the detent arm and spring. If the edge of the pawl is worn, it won't move the drum far enough. If the detent arm or spring isn't working, it will want to drop into a false neutral. I've had very good luck by removing all of the parts and polishing them, removing any burrs and replacing the springs. If the problem isn't found under the cover in the gear change area then the only other solution is to pull the motor apart and inspect the tranny itself.

Model 2600 diesel tractor-starter motor runs constantly-solenoid is ok-but motor never engages flywheel.


I have the same problem on a gas 2600. Sometimes it engages and sometimes it doesn't. you can replace just the drive end and gear, that's going to be my next shot. I've had the starter off several times and cleaned and inspected it and it "appears" to be working correctly. I even took it to the starter guys we've always used and they found nothing wrong.

4x4automatic: stuck in 3rd gear from start.


It does not make a difference if the kickdown cable is out of adjustment. If the cable is out of adjustment, the jeep simply won't shift into higher gears, but it will always start in first gear. I believe that the tranny has been neglected and not had an oil change(before you did it)in a long time. The clutches in the tranny will fuse together and give you your simpton.
