It will most likely have to be replaced. Unless you can get the motherboard from the manufacturer or the computer is under warranty it will probably be cheaper to buy a new computer.

HP DV1000 won't run normal after a forced shutdown

For this kind of issue, please follow up the following steps to check:
1.confirm the battery and ac adapter connect the laptop normally.Maybe the bad connect lead to this problem. If there are no lights when you turn on laptop, one of possible reason is that your adapter is malfunction.

2.the second possible cause is laptop dc jack failure. If the dc jack is broken or loose, you are required to replace it or repair it.

3.Another possible reason is that there is something wrong with laptop motherboard. For this situation, it includs two kinds of possibility,a failure in an electronic circuit and BGA malfunction.

For more detailed reasons and solutions, please have a look at the following article:

If you verify your laptop adapter is dead and you plan to order a new one, I recommend one for you on the basis of your laptop model:

Can't burn CD's anymore!

Have you tried replacing the CDrw drive? It sounds like the write mechanism in it is toast. You can find a replacement drive on ebay. Just put in your laptop's model and say something like "HP DV1000 cdrw drive". Or you can purchase an external drive that plugs into your usb ports on ebay or at www.tigerdirect.com

Pavillion dv4-1114nr works with newly charges battery but will not work with any adapter or charge the battery.

First, you need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage. You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter.
If the battery did not charge using the new power adapter, take the battery off the laptop, & using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it self, then put the battery back into the laptop & try again.
If this still did not resolve the problem, then the battery itself could be bad. Try it on another laptop, or try a good or new battery in your laptop.
If this did not work, there might be a possibility that the charging circuitry on the laptop's motherboard is defective & needs servicing. In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether

Turn the computer the only thing that light up is the charging light batt..

Most cases there is no need to replace the motherboard. Try to find out what component has burned and replace it. If the main power supply to the inverter board had shorted, then, the supply giving FET may be burned. You may see as it burned. If the inverter activating device ( a small FET) had burned, you can also see it. In some systems there is a fuse for the inverter supply in inverter board as well as on the motherboard. You can also identify it.Make a reply if this is helpful.

HP pavillion dv1000 won't charge

Try using your laptop without the battery and just using your power supply (new universal or your old one).
If your laptop works on just mains power it means your battery is causing the problem, which is not unusual.

HP Pavillion power link blinks

I can almost guarantee you this is an issue with the power jack on the laptop's motherboard. Even though it may not appear to be loose, its most likely the solder connection on the motherboard has broken, only allowing intermittent connection when the laptop is in /just/ the right position.

It'd be best to get this looked at sooner rather than later, preferrably if the computer is still under warranty. The connection will steadily decline, until the laptop is unusable.

Otherwise, let me know if you want to get rid of the system! I have a system, almost exactly the same model, that I need parts for!

Hope this helps!
