Maybe just maybe you understand your palm pda is out of memory.

try backing it up to your pc.

then delting all the data from the palm's memory.

then synchronise a sub set of the data from your pc back to your palm.

see if this fixes it .

please can you tell me how to cold start my palm v?

Put music on SD card

1. Start Real Player on desktop
2. Hook PDA to PC
3. Run Real Player on PDA
4. In menu below player select burn/transfer
5. Select Music/All Music
6. Select songs to transfer over
Incidentally you can select mutpile songs at one time if you wish if they are all in a row
7. On the right side the songs will show up
8. Don't worry about "Will Not Fit" this only means desktop real player can't see your PDA or your card isn't plugged in all the way. Make sure it is B4 you begin
9. The songs will show on the right "Ready To Transfer"
10. Once you are done, lower left click START TRANSFER

When i touch the office doc on screen, pda goes blank, orange palm logo comes up, then changes to black palm logo, unit restarts again. works otherwise.

It sounds like a file error occurred when you installed the software. My suggestion would be to remove the software and try a reinstallation. If that doesn't work you may need to visit their website for any corrections or updates.

You need to Perform a Hard Reset on the Handheld; 1 Press and hold the Power Button 2 While Holding the power button you need to use the stylus and press and release the reset button on the back of the palm 3 Wait until you see the Palm Logo to release the power button 4 When you see the "Erase all Data" then hit the up on the 5 way button to finish the reset, this will Erase all Data and the Username..

My Palm Zire 72 tumbled into two inches of water.

It seems that unfortunately you PDA is damaged and needs professional repair service, or just forget about it and buy another one.

Water causes to have corrosion and shorts in electronic devices, even if is dried internally (residues cause the shorts), which is an quemical effect of have water (or moisture) with copper and other metals and a voltage from the battery.

If anyway is already damaged, you may want to try in repair it yourself.

If so, you will need to open it, and remove all residues (kind of green or white dust over the components) from the copper traces, connectors and components.

If the event is recent, there is the chance you can clean it completely, but I do see that this happened a couple of months ago.

If several weeks (or months) passed, then a deep corrosion already took place in it, and is likely that the components and connections have been permanently damaged.

In order to open and repair, you will need:

1. Torx scredriver and philips screwdriver
2. Plastic pry tool to open it without leave marks or damage the PDA housing
3. 5X magnifier with light, or better if you can use a microscope, so you can review all the areas (including under the tiny electronic components) and clean them.

If you send it to repair, it will be expensive, and it may be over the cost of buy an used PDA but in good working conditions.

I mean, depending of the damage caused by the water, it may be necessary to replace one or all the major components inside the PDA (mainboard, LCD screen, speaker, camera, battery, etc).

Best regards,

Hot Synch an existing PalmVx data to a replacement palmVx

The first thing you want to do is to do a Hard Reset on the used PDA that you bought as a replacement. To do that follow these steps:

1. Hold down the power button and then depress the small hole in the back with the tip of your stylus.

2. Continue to hold them both in until you see the Palm logo.

3. Let go of both of them and then follow the onscreen directions. You will want to answer yes and use the 5 way navigation button on the bottom of your pda and hit up so that is completes the reset. After that you will have to set up your touch screen and go through the tapping the target. After you have gone through all this then do a hotsync2.gif. It should clear up your problem. Best wishes.

USB device not recognized or has malfunctioned on hotsync

Last week, windoze started barking the same complaint at me. A hard reset (of my Tungsten E) solved the problem. Caution: A hard reset (keep the power button pressed while performing a normal reset. Only release power button, when Palm logo screen appears. The press up-key) delete ALL data (even the identity, i.e. hotsync ID) from your palm - so be sure to have a recent backup!

Trying to hotsync kills the pda

You must have a 3rd party or a driver from a prior different palm os device causing the problem. You will need to rename your C:\Program Files\palmone\Username\Backup\ directory to allow the first sync. It will create a new one. The double click on the files in the old Backup one at a time to determine which one to avoid or reinstall the apps one by one.
