I can not connect to the Internet using DI-524 router if I select WPA2-PSK security. If there is no security or if security is WPA type connection is possible, but is slower than usual.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Some later model wireless routers have the Password(ie.Encryption key) and the SSID already configured in the wireless router andthis information is printed on a label on the bottom of the router. These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adaptersin your computer/laptop. If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit yourrequirements. The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorizedaccess. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cablefrom your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computerand enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login andpassword and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID andEncryption key. The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 togenerate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits. Most people use Passphrase which is easier to remember eg. I was born inJanuary 1988. The strongest and latest security is WPA2, the weakest and oldest is WEP. To connect to your wireless router from the computer/laptop,configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wirelesssettings ie SSID, plus the WPA or WPA2 encryption key. Then computer/laptopscan communicate with your wireless router.
you have to do is connect to the router and secure
the connection follow the following steps: - First
you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer)
by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is
192.168.0.1 (Default router settings are written under the router) (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password "leave it blank") and lookup for the options to do the
following: - 1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router 2. Change the default administrative user name and password (The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)
Next step is to secure it: 1.On the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Setup"
2.Under "Wireless Security Mode", select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA2-PSK) 3.Choose a Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length 4. Click Save Settings. Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet. Please, refer here
to download the product guide/manual and make configurations as per the
details provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
The securing process in your wireless router is set by choosing the "Wireless Settings" (with my Netgear, anyway) screen. The bottom portion of the screen lets you set various things re. security, like WEP, WPS-PSK (TKIP), WPA2-PSK (AES), and on. Different levels of security demand different types of passwords as well.
hey,, log into the router (check you router manual for instructions on how to do this) normally it involves going to internet explorer, typing the router ip. logginmg into the router with the username and password.
now find and enable these security features.
1.) under wireless look for WPA-PSK this is like a password to connect to the network. follow the user manual for instructions on doing this or the help located on the router config screen. basically it involves turning it on, typing a password, confirmning it and rebooting the router.
2.) MAC address filters. locates under advanced and filters. enable it, select the mac address u want to axcess the router and only enable them.
thats it your done.. the WPA=PSK is enough to secure it, but i use both to prevent wardrivers and other lamers.
Try to reconfigure your wireless network on your DI-524.
To access the configuration page of your router by Default type in on the address bar 192.168.0.1. On the login page by default the Username is admin and leave the Password blank.
If inside the the configuration page of the router
> Click on WIRELESS located on the left side and you will have the wireless setting of your network > Change the wireless network name > Under security choose either WEP or WPA -PSK for this type of router. > Type in your new network key (also know as Passphrase of Key1).
For WEP use 0 to 9 Number or A to F character and it should be exactly 10 characters. For WPA-PSK you can use alpha numeric from 0 to 9 and from A to Z. The minimun character would be 8.
