Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

The washer spin cyle is stopping and when the door is opened and closed it starts to spin again. there is a rod attached to the door that makes and breaks a mirco switch when opened and closed, located on the left side of door. I suspect the problem to be the switch. If you agree, My problem is I don't know how to get to it. Help

This machine is operating properly. All washers are designed to stop spinning when the door/lid is open -- it's a required safety feature.

What happens when machine stops half way through cycle water emptied out and will not work on spin cycle either

This will happen if the little rod that slides into the opening on top of the washer when the cover is closed has broken off. Look at the bottom left corner of the cover when it's open, and see if the little rod is still intact. If it's broken off, you'll need to contact the manufacturer and get a replacement.

If it's not the plunger for the closed lid switch, it's most likely something that will need to be serviced by an appliance repairman.

LSR5232LQ1 Whirlpool washer Will try to spin but can't

Does it spin at all ?
If not, trying looking under the door. there is a switch that often breaks off that will not allow the spin cycle to run if the door is closed - you know when you look in your washer when its spinning and as soon as you open the door the spin cycle stops unil you close the door again ? that's the switch.
worth a try. costs about $3.00 for the switch & can put it in with a srew driver.
good luck - aloha

Frigidaire front loading washer stopped at rinse cycle. 3 beeps

When in doubt check the easiest thing to check. The pump can cause a number of errors to come up. Since the unit stopped in rinse I would start but checking to make sure there is nothing obstructing the pump before going to the expensive parts.

It looks like the door switch was not making because the door is defective. Also the switch may just be bad.

Fill, Agitate, then nothing

There is a door activated switch that might not be working. It you look under the door lid you will see a plastic rod which goes into a hole on the base of the top ring. Make sure that this rod is depressing the switch when the door closes, and if possible see if the switch circut closes.

Door will not open

On my machine which is identical to this one I have to press and hold the stop button to end the programme and then turn off and unplug the machine to reset it. Following this run a spin only cyle(M) to get rid of the water.
Once the machine has drained and ended the M cycle try the door again. If this fails unplug the machine wait for a few seconds and then plug it in again and turn the program knob to any programme but do not start it running, just try the door it should open.
If all this fails it may be a problem with the contacts for the electrical stage of the door release or a faulty door lock.
Good luck, Al
