873 n media center

When I power up my media center the only thing that shows up on my monitor is the blue HP INVENT screen. Is it my mother board and when the mother board is fried do I lose all my files, etc.? I am not savvy with all of the terms and what they stand for, so please be kind and tell me what I need to do? I am desperate and I have a project with the city due tomorrow that they will not get so please help me.

Re: 873 n media center

The blue invent screen you mention is the initial screen when the plug that goes from monitor to computer is not connected check that it may have come out or it may be loose and cant be seen until you fiddle with it and you might want to check to see any of the lights on the front of your computer is lighting up if they are there aint anything wrong with the motherboard or the hard disk. If they aint then Im afraid unless you have any technical skills the other solution is the better as stated by MAJsteve.

Every time i turm my computer on the monitor comes on and then says going to sleep the computer shuts down will not stay on. I can"t do anything, it keeps shutting down and the monitor shuts down.

this is a computer problem not a monitor problem whens the last time you cleaned out the computer as in air blasted to clean out any dust if the power supply over heats this would cause a shut down the other thing would be a problem with the mother board open case look at the stuff inside and see whats dirty cpu, power supply , motherboard dust a #1 killer of motherboards

you will have to remove the power cable and hold the power button for 7 sec w/o power cable and then try connection the power cable and turn on

2) reset the power connector on the mother board and try it

3) remove the memory and chk if you could listen to the beep if yes the mother board and power supply is fine so try removing the pci cards if any

Try those things

Video is scrambled

It's probably something to do with your video card. The card could need replaced or there could be a bent pin in the plug. Check for the bent pins first.
