Question about Husqvarna , No.455 Rancher, 20" Gas - Powered Chainsaw

1 Answer

Hi, I have 2 husqvarna 272xp`s that were my Father in-laws.Before he passed he had 1 of three fixed I recently got the other 2 and pulled a few parts off one to make a complete saw.My question is that when I start the saw it runs fine at idle and will make a few cuts and then dies out like it is running out of gas when it warms up.I put a new plug in it and It did not fix the problem, the air cleaner does not appear to be too dirty and the saw had a tag on it that said low psi 100/120 from the saw shop. Is this too low of compression under a load or does it sound like an ignition problem?Or possibly fuel&air filters?

Well i can guarantee you it needs piston rings or valves nowdays people just buy new saws. try using the saw that doesnt say low compression.

Husky 272xp, getting spark from new plug, seated and backed off both low & high screw 1 1/2 turns, still wont crank. any advice?

To diagnose if its fuel related its best to remove the air filter and try to start with airo start. If no go and you know you have spark it's time for a compression test.

I am looking for a part # for a whole mandel assembly for my father n laws YTH2348 mower. i found the parts broke down but need the whole assembly for the right side.

pull the mandrel off and take it to a small engine repair shop. there are just 2 or 3 sizes and they will have one sitting on the shelf. those mowers are made by the same company which makes most all the rest of them, AYP or MTD. small engine and mower repair shops can be found in the yellow pages.

I have a husqvarna 272xp chainsaw, it starts but dies quickly was playing with carb setting and got it to keep running, but when idling it surges to high rpm for a few seconds and then goes back to normal,...

I'd guess at a dirty carb. If its been sitting the gas may have gone bad and clogged up the carb. Try spraying some carb cleaner in the mouth of the carb. It's possible that the idle is turned up too high to compensate for clogged ports in the carb. This is a possibility but not a guaranteed solution. Good luck.

I have a older 272xp with no spark tryed new spark -no help could it be the coil

1. It could be the coil.
2. It could be the run/stop switch.
3. It could the interconnecting wiring. Is it continuous? Is it shorted? HTH Lou
