Powerjack is loose when plugging in power,no lights battery can not be charged.

In order to fix this problem, you will have to fully disassemble your laptop to get access to the motherboard & the power jack. If the power jack is not broken but only loose, you can re-solder it to the motherboard. Otherwise, you will need to buy a replacement power jack (usually less than US$ 10), de-solder the broken power jack, & then solder in the new one.
When this is done, re-assemble back your laptop.

Laptop fluctuates charging/battery while on ac power

HI There,

Your problem is your DC Power Jack that you're plugging into. It's very common with this series. The Power Jack over time starts to pull away from the motherboard (the soldering that holds it fails). It can short out back and forth between only power, only charging, or doing both or doing nothing.

There are several companies on eBay that do the repair for around 60 to 80 dollars including the return shipping. You pay the shipping to them. Go to eBay and in the search box type in "DC Powerjack Repair Replace" and you can select the company of your choice. Check their "Feedback" rating to make sure their not just arrived as a vendor.

I have used several different ones (I'm a laptop repair specialist) and have never had a problem yet.

Good Luck

When trying to start up my dell latitude CPX nothing happens, and when I plugg up the wall charger, there is a blinking light but still no power

A blinking light normally indicates a dead battery; however, since it does not power up when power is plugged in, I would suspect that the power jack on the motherboard needs to be repaired. This would explain the lack of power and the inability to charge the battery. I replace powerjacks a lot. Good luck. -Carlos:

I get all jacks for my shop through Ebay. There are several vendors that sell only dc jacks, and are unbeatable on their prices. Most jacks cost approx $6 with shipping, so browse Ebay for the jack.

Power suppy

Seeing how the AC Power Cord Plug Snapped, It probably loosened the pins on the DC Power Jack (located on the motherboard...)....and you are shorting out from loose contacts on the DC Jack...
The DC PowerJack Will either have to be desoldered and cleaned then Resoldered.....
Or Purchase a New DC Jack and Replace With Old By Desoldering and soldering New in Place....

And of course.. get yourself a new charging cord, or go to radio shack and buy a new plug tip and reattach it to your Power Charger Cord End....

Hope that helps..
