If settings were deleted in error... try this.
Go to PROFILES.
Make sure an audio profile (ie Normal) is selected.
For further personal settings:
Select ADVANCED.
Select (ie) NORMAL.
Scroll to PHONE and depress the pearl ball.
Select OUT OF HOLSTER and set to TONE.
Select RING TONE and select the tone you want.
Select VOLUME and set to your preference.
You might want to do the same for IN HOLSTER.

My phone has been switched off for time, and it turned on but for some reason the joy stick isnt working

Hi, if your track ball is not working, it might be because of a buildup of dirt, which obscures the sensor wheels. Cleaning the trackball will fix the problem, and can be done without any special tools or knowledge. After cleaning the trackball, your BlackBerry 8310 should be returned to a good working condition.

  • Lift off the plastic ring around the trackball using the screwdriver. Place the screwdriver under the outer edge of the ring and carefully lift it out. You do not need to use a lot of pressure, as the ring should click out easily.
  • Lift the trackball out of the Blackberry. Raise the white tabs with the screwdriver to lift the ball component out of the trackball. Be sure to keep all pieces safe during this process, as losing one may render the trackball unusable.
  • First, wipe the trackball with a dry cloth to remove the larger particles of dirt. Then, dip the cloth in the cleaning fluid and rub the ball with it. This should lift off any ground-in dirt that has accumulated.
  • Leave to dry for a minute or two, then reverse the removal process. Ensure that the ball lines up with the sensors on the component, marked by the white guides. Click the trackball and the ring back into place. Your trackball should now function properly.
  • Repeat the process once a month, or every time the trackball's performance begins to falter. Trackballs easily pick up dirt and sweat from fingers, which cause them to become clogged. Regular maintenance will help prevent any major damage

BlackBerry Tour: How to make it ring and vibrate for incoming calls

You can customize your BlackBerry Tour so that either it rings when you get a phone call, or it vibrates -- or both. To make your phone both ring and vibrate when you get a call, go to your BlackBerry's sounds and ring tone options, which you can get to by either of the following two ways:

#1 - Use the trackball to go to the sound icon in the upper left corner of the main screen and click on it, then toward the bottom of the list that appears, select Set Ring Tones/Alerts, then select Phone.

#2 - On the main screen, press the BlackBerry button (the one with the seven dots) to take you to your Home folder. Scroll down to the Options folder (it's usually toward the bottom, and it has a wrench icon) and click on it, then select Sounds and Ring Tones.

From this scren you can select the ring tone that you want and adjust the ring tone volume. Then scroll down to Vibration and set it for On.

There is also an option for Vibrate with Ring Tone. If you turn this option on, the phone will both ring and vibrate at the same time when you get a call. If you turn it off, the phone will vibrate first, then ring. Either way, you'll get the ring and the vibration -- it's just a matter of whether they happen together or not. To see the difference between the two options, use the "Try it" option at the bottom of the screen.

When you've made the selections that you want, exit out of the options screen, but be sure to choose Save rather than Discard to save your changes.

My black berry baal stucking and not working...can suggest the sollution

I remembered an article some months ago which mentioned the coloring the of the Pearl's trackball by coloring the LED beneath the trackball. Finally I realized that removing the pearl's cover would the best way to get access to its sensor and clean it. By the way, this should work for all BlackBerry devices that carry a trackball around like BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, 8800, 8820 and 8830.
The silver ring which covers the trackball can easily be removed if you use a small screwdriver to lift it at the outer side of the ring. Be careful here! Like you should be during the whole process as all parts have very small plastic nipple which can break very easy. When the silver plastic ring is removed you will see the inner trackball component which can be removed completely. Before doing this you should carefully remove the silver metal ring that holds the trackball component in its position. The trackball component itself can also be carved. For every direction the ball can roll to you'll find a sensor wheel. Those wheels are mostly carrying some gunk you should clean them from. Once this is done put everything back together to the place the pieces came from and secure the trackball with the silver plastic ring you removed in the first step. Your BlackBerry's trackball should be back working now.

My phone will not ring out loud and vibrate at the same time.

To turn on a ringtone and vibration, go to your BlackBerry's sounds and ring tone options by either of the following ways:

1. Use the trackball to go to the sound icon in the upper left corner of the main screen and click on it, then toward the bottom of the list that appears, select Set Ring Tones/Alerts, then select Phone.

2. In the Home folder, go to your Options folder (usually toward the bottom, has a wrench icon) and select Sounds and Ring Tones.

Select the ring tone and volume that you want, and for Play Sound select Always. Scroll down to Vibration and set it for On.

There is an option for Vibrate with Ring Tone -- set that to on in order to make your phone both ring and vibrate at the same time, then save the settings when you cancel out, and you're all set.

Trackball 8800 Blackberry

Your trackball needs to be cleaned. You have two options.

1) You can send it in to be repaired, or
2) You can clean the trackball yourself.

To clean the trackball yourself:

The silver ring which covers the trackball can easily be removed if you use a small screwdriver to lift it at the outer side of the ring. Be careful here! (Like you should be during the whole process as all parts have very small plastic nipple which can break very easy.)

When the silver plastic ring is removed you will see the inner trackball component which can be removed completely. Before doing this you should carefully remove the silver metal ring that holds the trackball component in its position.

The trackball component itself can also be carved. For every direction the ball can roll to you’ll find a sensor wheel. Those wheels are mostly carrying some gunk you should clean them from.

Once this is done put everything back together to the place each pieces came from and secure the trackball with the silver plastic ring that you removed in the first step.

Your BlackBerry’s trackball should be back working now.
