Question about Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U 42 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

The ANT/CABLE connection on the back of the TV has broke off inside of the TV. I have no cable only basic but have to hook up TV to VCR just to get my basic 3-12 channels but cant get it to show me the rest of them. I have like 2-78 normally. How is there a way I can fix this problem? I didnt want to take it to a repair shop, as I can buy parts at walmart to fix it, but also didnt want to take back off by myself because im not sure how it is wired. Is it safe to take back off and fix it ur self or is it to complicated. Also is there a book or something that would show me a way or how to on fixing this problem? Thanks my email is choward120@email.itt-tech.edu please contact me there if possible as well, thank you so much, chad howard

You can check at Radio Shack or Best Buy or Online for an RF to Composite or an RF to Component Converter. With this you would plug in the Cable Line (RF) into the Converter then from the Converter out to the TV either Composite (Yellow, White and RED Cables) or Component (Red, Green, Blue W/ White and Red Audio) If your not experienced with taking apart a TV then I wouldn't Gamble! There are parts internally that even though is has been unplugged for hours these parts remain charged and a simple connection to you will cause serious injury!!!!

My 42 inch sylvania plasma tv does not have a coax connection, so how do i hook up my cable to the audio/video connection? i know there is an rf converter to transfer audio/video to coax but i really...

Since your TV only has audio and video input jacks, you can connect those to audio and video output jacks on the VCR. Now connect the coax cable to the RF/ant input on the VCR and you'll have to change channels by using the VCR channel selector.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

Help

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, the easiest connection method would be to use a short RF patchcord to connect the RF out of the DVD/VCR to the ANT/CABLE/RF IN of the TV. Set the TV to Channel 3. To continue able to receive ant/cable channels, the cable input should go to the ANT/CABLE/RF IN of the VCR/DVD.

Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

What kind of cords do you need to hook-up to a tv??

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, the A/V cable would be readily available from most electronics supply store, Audio/Video/TV stores, MP3 and even computer shops/stores. The cable would be as shown below:

Alternately, you can connect the RF OUT of a VCR to this RF/ANT/Cable IN of the TV, set the TV to Channel 3. An RG59 patch cable would do the job. Should you want to connect a DVD, connect the Video/Audio OUTPUT of the DVD to the Video/Audio INPUT of the VCR. Incidentally, the regular cable/ant should be connected to the RF IN of the VCR.

EWF TV ANT IN BOKEN

It can be soldered back on. With that particular model, I don't know if the connector is connected to the tuner or if there is a litte square anteena box which then feed a cable to the tuner.

No jacks in the back

Hi,

This is a very basic TV with only a single ANT/CABLE/RF INput. If you intend to use a DVD player whose outputs are the yellow, red & white RCA, then you would need either:
1. an RF modulator similar to this one or
2. use an old VCR to accept the yellow, red & white RCA cables as INputs. The VCR would then have to be connected to the ANT/CABLE/RF INput using an RF patch cord. The TV wold then have to be tuned to either Channel 3 or 4.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Tv/vdr/cable box

Your hookup is correct- Your VCR needs to be tuned to channel 3 or 4, to match the cable box.

Also, the VCR channel output needs to be matched to the TV. If VCR menu options are displayed on the TV then this part is right. If not, then set either the VCR or TV to the correct channel.

Hooking up a dvd/vcr player

The easiest way to connect the unit is via coax. You can come out of your satellite receiver via the "Out to TV" on the back of the receiver to the "In from Ant" on your DVD/VCR combo. You can then connect another coax from the "Out to TV" on the DVD/VCR combo to the "Ant/Cable" input on the back of you TV. Make sure the satellite receiver and the vcr are both modulated to the same channel, normally channel 3.

ANGLS186-YES YOU CAN RESOLDER THE ANT. IN COAX CONECTION BUT KNOW YOU MUST FIRST SOLDER THE CENTER WIRE OF COAX TO TUNER BD. THEN CAREFULLY INSERT COAX BACK INTO ORIGINAL POSITION.THE EASIER SOLUTION IS TO USE A VCR OR CABLE BOX HOOKED TO YOUR SETS' VIDEO IN PORT AND CHANGE CANNELS W.THAT COMPONENT.JOE TV

VCR not recording higher-numbered channels

Yes coming in her VCR with Cable or ant, if she has satellite it would be different. Going out to tv from VCR. Then in is Input the Out is Output. RF cable connection or A/V inputs(jacks) either one same way of hookup.
