Question about EliteGroup NFORCE4M-A Motherboard

No sound/audio device recognized

I've been trying to get the sound on this board working for a while now. I've downloaded all the most up-to-date drivers for the RealTek AC97 audio and still no audio device is detected on my Sound and Audio Devices Properties in the control panel. I've also checked the status of the sound in the BIOS and the AC97 peripheral is set to Auto. There are only two options for the AC97 available: Auto and Disabled. I'm completely lost on this...please help!!! I would like to avoid buying a new sound card if I can get this issue resolved. Thanks!

Re: No sound/audio device recognized

Tell you what, try the new High defenition audio drivers from Realtek. it's available on their homepage. That's been a big problem, due to the lack of information (can you beleve that!) from Realtek. HD drivers are preparation for windows of as the name sais High Defenition sound. After that normaly windows (XP) gets everything done by itself.

I have BLKDG31PR motherboard....I"ve fixed

First, make sure all the sound drivers are up to date.

Then, on windows goto start>Control Panel>Device manager.
Find the 'Sound, video and game controllers' category and open it.
Make sure there is something there, if there is not, you have not installed the sound driver.

Next, go back to Control Panel and click on 'Sound'
On the playback tab, make sure the output you want is set as default. There will probably be some other ones like 'Digital Audio', for the normal 32mm headphone/speaker jack you will need 'speakers' set as default.
Also make sure the speakers/headphones are plugged into the green jack.

Front panel audio failure-DG33FB Intel mainboard

Your Intel DG33FB board by default was already setup for use. Your board has been configured for independent multi-streaming 5.1 audio (using the back panel audio connectors).
Your board should have come with a shielded front panel audio cable to connect front panel audio as shown on page 45, item B. The pin out for the front panel audio header is shown on page 46, table 5.
If you did not receive this cable you may need to contact Intel.
Check the Intel link included, which shows the cable needed for either AC'97 or HD cabling;
Audio standards: AC'97 and HD audio

Most motherboards will not play audio through the rear jacks when the board is connected to the front audio pins.
Intel like other manufactures do not mention this in their manuals.

Thanks for using Fixya!

maybe vista is not recognizing the device or it is not compatible with that os. Have you tried using windows xp, there a greater chance that it would work

Audio files for IWill DP533

Try this
Download Microsoft UAA drivers uninstall all other sound driver and install the UAA ones and reboot
On reboot go to device drivers and update your sound drivers. will go on net to find and install them
A lot of on board sound nowadays require the UAA drivers before and sound can be recognized
Most times doing this works occasionally it does not
I have had sound that says it need one make of driver and would not work with it tried a different ones and it did
If the UAA drivers combined with your sound driver do not work give others a try.

Mic isn't working in Skype

Your logitech will not fix your C-Media CM6501driver.

Does your sound function? Can you hear sound through speakers or headset?

You did the right thing by testing the mic in control panel, audio device. Lets look at one other place.
Open control panel than open system. Click the hardware tab & than click device manager button. Scroll down to Sound, video and game controller. Click the + sign. Do you see a yellow ! point? If you do see the yellow ! point than you need to reinstall your sound driver software. Or better yet download the latest audio driver for your board from Asus web site listed at the link posted here:
CMedia beta driver. Version: V5.12.8.1802

If there was no yellow ! point than your audio chip is defective.
Your audio & mic are intergrated into the board. The audio chip controlls both audio & mic. This is a very common break down for Asus boards, (made in China).

Your board was made in 2006 & it's warranted for three years.
You have two choices.
1. You can buy a PCI sound card & install that into your system.
You'll have to turn off the intergrated audio in the bios as well.

2. You will have to call Asus & talk with the tech dept.
812-282-2787 IL EST
A tech will ask you for the serial no# located on a white sticker on your pink printer port Lpt-1. The tech will have you re-run the test you preformed (setting up the mic). Than they will issue you a case no#.
Than you'll have to call CA, RMA dept. 510-739-3777
You give the RMA dept your case no#. They email you instructions. You pay to ship your board to Asus tech IL.
Than around 10 working days they'll ship (free) it back to you (replaced with another board), but working.
Same model no#, different serial no#.
(I so hate giving out bad news!)

The choice is your's.
Good luck & best wishes
