SOURCE: Why does my amp stay in protect mode?

The most common reason an amplifier goes into or remains in protect mode is shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible reasons for it to go into protect, read the following page.

Does it go into protect in the vehicle if you disconnect the speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp?

SOURCE: I have an older red

The protection light comes on if the amp overheats or if the speaker outputs are shorted.

Turn everything off and check all of your speaker wires for shorts. When you locate and repair the short, the protection light should go out and your amp will work normally again.

Hope this helps!

My A8000t amps red protection light is on checked

When ever the amp stays in RED protection mode with out any speakers hooked up to it, YOUR amp has internal damage some where. Can't tell you how much to fix, Could be cheap or not worth it. Talk to your local electronic repair, would be a good start.

My vr3 amp light wont go green, it just stays red

It is in protection mode, it shuts down the amplifiers power supply so that it does not destroy itself. You may have a shorted output transistor.

Help!!

Disconnect your speakers and test the amp. If the protection light goes out , check your speaker wires with a meter for resistance and check the speakers for a shorted coil. Hope this helps. If you need further help, post a comment and I can help you further.

VR3 Amp Protection Light problem

Looks like you have covered all the basics.

The remote wire is the switch that turns the amp on and off. So you are probably just killing the power to the amp.

Sounds like a short in the amp itself if all the input and output wires are disconnected and the protection is still coming on.

Overhaul light (red) stays on!

This is not a ovehaul light. It is called the protect indicator. It kicks in when the amp detects a fault on it's output. Disconnect the speaker / sub. Power up the amp and see if the light goes out. If it does you Sub is toast and needs to be replaced. If it stays on then the amp is done.
