The absolute best way is to go to www.crucial.com. The website will test your PC automatically and tell you exactly what you have and what kind of RAM you need. It will also offer the correct RAM for you on the same site, so you can do it all in one swoop..pls rate this solution. Once you receive the RAM, the Sticks are under the largest panel under your notebook. You can get the manual off of your manufacturers website to see exactly which screws to take out..but normall its under the largest plate..good luck..pls rate this solution

this laptop can take 4G ram http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/Gateway-memory/M-1000+Series/M-1625-upgrades.html

if the memory modules are not from the same brand range, this can often be the issue.

it SHOULD be able to run with just 1 2G module but will run better with 2 1G rather than the single, assuming it's the right type for the machine.

If I'm upgrading pc memory, I remove the old and replace with Crucial or Kingston kits so as not to mix brands and ranges.

Memory not working

The 2nd RAM module could be incompatible with the 1st RAM module or it maybe faulty.
Try using the same make and speed as the 1st RAM module.

T6524 won't recognize all ram

If you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules. first you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system

I just need to upgrade the memory on a Dell Precision 530MT.. can't seem to find the exact type of memory it needs.. any ideas?

HELLO Paul

When installing memory modules in the system board sockets and not using the optional memory riser boards, observe the following guidelines:
  • Each memory socket on the system board must be occupied either by a RIMM or a CRIMM.

  • Memory sockets must be upgraded in matched pairs. In other words, two sockets in a pair must contain modules of identical capacity, number of components, and speed. See "System Board Memory Components" to identify pairs of sockets.

  • Mixed pairs of ECC and non-ECC modules all function as non-ECC.

  • Be sure to install a RIMM in socket 1 first (closest to the processor) before installing modules in the other sockets.

  • The system board supports PC600 and PC800 memory modules.

My laptop HP Compaq 6510b Notebook PC . Can I upgrade the momary from 2G Ram To 4G of Ram ? . And the prosser Cor2Deu 2Gspeed Can I upgrade it to Cor I5 . Thank You

CPU upgrade is a big NO.
The core I5 is a different socket, and modern laptops use mobile CPU's.
Memory upgrade is ok, you can fit 4GB "Up to 4GB of 667-MHz DDR2 SDRAM, dual channel memory support "

My Dell Dimension 9150 is unstable. The Dell Diagnostic indicates memory failure in DIMM socket 3. I reversed the modules in the DIMM sockets and Dimm socket 3 failed again. Motherboard?? My motherboard...

Yes you can. Your best is to use the largest and best ram in the number one slot. I would remove ALL the ram and start with the 2 gig in the first slot - then add others until you get the error message - remove that one and keep the rest.

Hi! How can I increase the RAM on my Aspire T310? Can I do it myself? Thanks.

Yes, you can definitely do this yourself. Upgrading RAM is one thing that repair places make much money; however, it takes a matter of seconds to complete.

Your Acer Aspire T310 has two memory slots on the motherboard. Each slot can hold a maximum of 1GB each for a total of 2GB RAM. You should see a great improvement in performance.

To save on a long tutorial, I have included a video link. The type of RAM you need can be found at the following link. Kingston is another manufacturer you could check into also.

Please remember to unplug all cords from your computer and be in a static free environment before upgrading your memory. Good Luck!

Ram upgrade

Step 5: Remove a memory or continuity module Continuity modules do not contain memory, but are placeholders to close the memory circuit. Use the following steps to remove a memory or continuity module:
  1. Pull out, and then press down on the holding clips that retain the memory modules. The memory modules should rise up slightly out the socket. Figure 5: Opening memory module tabs c00571682.gif
  2. Pull out the memory or continuity module (for RIMMs) and place it in a static-safe container.
Step 6: Add a memory module Use the following steps to insert a memory module into an empty socket:
  1. If RIMMs are being used, keep the following items in mind when purchasing and installing modules:
    • The memory configuration of channel A (the first two sockets) and channel B (the second two sockets) must be identical.
    • Continuity RIMMs must fill any open memory sockets.
    • When a continuity RIMM is required, it should be installed into the second socket.
  2. Align the memory module so the small notches on the lower edge line up with the raised marks in the socket. Figure 6: Memory module installation c00571683.gif 1 - DIMM (notches farther apart) 2 - RIMM (notches close together)
