Question about Delphi Roady XT XM Radio Receiver

No FM Frequency option

After moving my Roady XT from the Belkin Boombox back into the car, it doesn't work anymore. It's been working fine for months. Now it's getting satellite reception and I can hear the sound of the static change when the XT powers on, but I no longer have a FM Frequency option in the Menu? Amy ideas? I tried resetting the factory defaults, but that didn't help.

I have the same problem. Please, does anyone have ANY ideas how to fix this?

Yes. This started happening to me this week. I can't get the tuner to work in the boombox any more either. Please help.

I have the same problem. Roady works perfectly in my home , including having FM frequency on menu and transmits to my cars when they are in range( in my garage). I have tried a new kit for my car, but doesn't solve the problem.

I have the same problem. No FM frequency option under menu and no sound but shows good reception.

My roady works on the home set and has the FM frequency line on the menu. The fm line is missing in the car and it will not broadcast to a FM station. I purchased a new car cradle on line, but this did not solve the problem. I have power and plenty of signal. I was considering replacing

the lighter power plug as the only option I can see.

Worked fine in car for 18 months, then tried to use it in a Belkin boom box (no success), put it back in car & couldn't get the FM Frequency option to appear in the Menu. Delphi tech reps told me to go through a sequence of resetting the Factory Default, then powering unit off, removing receiver from cradle, unplugging antenna & power cords from cradle, then plugging them in (antenna first), then putting the receiver in & out of the cradle 7-8 times. Still no luck getting the FM Frequency option to appear. Delphi told me unit is damaged & only option is to get a new receiver. :-(

I'm also experience the same problem, however, I have never connected my XM receiver to any Belkin product, I don't even own any Belkin products save for a laptop messenger bag. Very frustrating, I haven't even had it a year, I called XM, all they could do was suggest I call Delphi and that I can tune in to station 130 for up to date election coverage, WOW *sarcasm* so awsome, don't know how I can do that though when my XM isn't working O.o

Roady xt was working fine in the car, took it out, put it in my boombox, and didnt' work in the boombox. Took it out of the boombox and put it back in the car, and now it doesn't even work in the car. Tried to change the frequency as the instruction manual suggests, and "FM Frequency" isn't an option in the menu.

Had the same problem and discovered that the Belkin box breaks off the pin assignment on the bottom of the receiver. If you look at the bottom of the receiver you will find the left pin on the connector separated from the rest of the connector. Just happens to be that left pin allows control of the frequency change and also does not allow the receiver to transmit on any frequency. Only solution is to buy a new receiver as I just did.

I have had my Roady XT for over a year and it has worked in my car, and on the docking station in my house. It suddenly stopped transmitting to my car radio. It picks up the satelitte signal and I see all the stations on the screen, but no sound. The FM frequency option on the menu is also gone, however when I dock it in the house the FM option appears on the menu. I have tried setting it up in our other car and it acts the same. I am very discusted, repairs will probably cost more than a new one.

  • jonmolina May 03, 2008

I am having the exact same problem as other users have mentioned.

  • Anonymous May 13, 2008

I "lost" the FM frequency option, too. I found that my Roady had become slightly unseated from the car cradle. I reseated it and the problem was fixed. I think that in certain configurations, the FM frequency menu pick is intentionally not displayed.

it seems the fm option disappears from menu when an audio output plug is inserted. i think it is set that way from factory.

Although I do not own an XM Boombox and did not have this exact same issue, I did have the same FM Frequency problem when hooking up my brand new XM RoadyXT to my home dock. I spent hours trying to uplug and plug the line out cables as well as the antenna and power cord....not to mention the 20-something power downs and power ups. However, I finally figured out that (at least my Roady) only works thru the AUX option on my stereo. No FM Frequency set-up is needed!!! : ) - Very happy as I was getting ready to just go buy another radio! So glad I tried all my options first! I hope this helps anyone who seems to be having an issue with the FM Frequency "disappearance" option. Thanks!

I too plugged my Roady XT into Belkin boombox and then tried to plug back into car unit. No sound and no "FM Frequency" option on menu! Upon examining the bottom connector on the Roady unit with another I have I see the connector is broken (one pin missing). It must be from the Belkin boombox. Think my unit is toast for FM broadcasting....

  • mrcright307 Sep 07, 2008

Like most people I put my roady XT into the Belkin boom box and all of the display opitions worked but could only hear white noise. After this I put the radio head back into the car. I no longer have the FM frequency opition anymore. I called XM for troubleshooting and they were no help. I called Delphi and was told I was S.O.L. I will try to run the XM using the AUX.

I had no frequency option in the car; then tried it in home docking station and it no longer works there either! The frequency option does display when in the home docking kit and I can hear it power on (static change).
We have two roady xts and now I am fearful to use 'the good one' in the car...
    I hope someone posts a solution . . .

Same thing. I have a docking station in my car, and I drive a truck for a living, so I also have one in my truck. I moved the receiver from one to the other, and it stopped working. Also, the option to change frequencies disappeared from the menu. I have had the unit for a couple of years now and have never had any problem with it, until now.

jmiah22, mine shows the antenna to be working. I have at least 3 bars showing so I'm not sure that the antenna is the problem. Just not sure what it is. Works fine when I plug it into the cradle at home.

I had the same problem with all three of my Roady XTs. I posted a video with directions for solving the problem on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGMWf0aUTjw

Basically, you just need to have the antenna unplugged when you power up, and push menu right away, then select. Not sure why, but it worked on all of my Roady XTs. On the oldest one I had to push menu more than once. Good luck!

Please see the message about Belkin boom boxes and roady xts.

The Belkin boom box damages the radio so that it will no longer works properly. According to Delphi techs, there is no solution once this happens. You have to buy a new roady, but don't use it in any Belkin product.

I have the same problem, the unit works fine in my car, and the FM Frequency option disappears when it's hooked up on the base indoors. However, I don't think it's necessarly the antenna on the indoor base, as I have a second Roady that works just fine when it's hooked up to it.

I had the same problem, no FM frequency option when menu was selected. It is similar to rmhurd605. I unplugged the antenna cable from the radio and turned the radio on. Once the display read antenna, plug the antenna cable in and press menu. When I did this the FM frequency option returned to the menu.

I think I may have unwittingly solved this problem with the Roady XT. The FM FREQUENCY option disappears if your XM antenna is not working. My Dad was having this problem with his Roady XT and after messing with it for a long time, I realized that without the antenna the FM Frequency option appears when the radio is FIRST turned on, then disappears. But when the antenna is plugged in and working (showing bars) the FM frequency option is there every time! I finally came to the conclusion that the car antenna for my Dad's radio has a short in it, as when I put the radio on the base and connect my home antenna and power to it, it works, so it isn't the car base.

My XM Boombox is also white and it is a Belkin. The folks at Delphi told me the receiver in the boombox is screwed up which over time also screws up the Delphi receiver. Belkin is sending me a new boombox and Delphi is sending me a new Roady XT.

"Antenna" Appears on Roady XT Display

I had the same problem, it says antenna when you turn it on. It seems that there is a small wire that stays in the radio side of the socket right in the middle of the socket. This fine wire breaks off . I think there is no known repair for this. I took a piece of fine wire from a wire brush, and poked it into the socket . Had to get one that was thick enough to stay. Then I plugged the antenna into it, it worked.

Roady XT Transmitter problem

Mine is doing the same as well. Been working for 1 year. Now it starts cutting out while listening. I noticed if it is broadcasting the fm frequency menu is there. The minute it cuts out I press Menu and that menu item is gone. It comes back once the radio starts working again. Mine is 1 year old. I got it Christmas of 2006. I do know that if you have it directly connected then this menu item will not appear and that is by design. I think my xm roady xt has gone bad.
