Acer L100 will not power up.

I shut it down and disconnected the power cord while we were away on Easter break. Came home plugged it in and ...nothing! Light on power supply comes on but unit won't turn on. By the way, it always ran hot.
Help!! Thanks, Tim

I will give that a try. Thanks. I'm not into changing caps. LOL

    Cajun,

I'm confused. I do not see a power supply inside the unit. Just the power adapter which I plug into the wall. Tim

    cajun,

The L100 is a small form factor that uses the same power supply config as a laptop. (Very small form factor) I fear I'm into a motherboard. Any idea where to get a replacement?

    Thanks,

    Tim

Need to change out the power supply..just open the case to get the wattage should be around 500W, then go to online computer store for new one..easy to install just a couple of screws..but heres a tip, if you have a digital camera take a picture of where all the wires go on the motherboard before you unplug them..not good some are 12V, 5V and 3.3V, wrong socket and you gonna be buying a new motherboard too...good luck..pls rate this solution.

Its a desktop right not a laptop? I didn't look up the model just assumed since it was under the desktop portion of the questions..if its a small form factor which means its not a full size you may have to dig a little, but the power cord plugs into the power supply..should be in the top left or right..here's an excellent web site with step by step and illustrations on how to locate and change it..pls don' take this in to the repair shop this is one thing anyone can do and I hate to see people get charged $200 for something like this..hope this helps keep me updated, especially if you need help on the wattage...good luck..

My onkyo ht-r590 goes on then shuts off right away.

The amp protection circuit has been activated. Remove the power cord from the wall outlet immediately. Disconnect all speaker cables and input sources, and leave the AV receiver with its power cord disconnected for 1 hour. After that, reconnect the power cord and reconnect an input and a pair of speaker wires onto the unit. If the receiver still does not turn on than you will have to bring it in for service. Turn up the volume and if the receiver doesn't shut down, power off the receiver and add another pair of speakers. Power up the unit again and turn up the volume. If it doesn't shut down, power off the unit again. Now connect all your input sources and turn on your receiver. If the unit shuts down again, your unit will need to be further serviced at an authorized Onkyo service center.

I reset my surge protector and the computer wont power up. i think i need a new power supply. the power cord is working fine. Please let me know where i can find a power supply for the aspire...

The Acer Aspire L100 is a desktop computer powered by a special DC adapter and power cable. The computer's motherboard incorporates a fuse designed to prevent any power surges from damaging the computer. If the fuse burns out due to a power surge or for any other reason, the computer will no longer function. You can check the motherboard fuse for damage yourself, then take it to a trained technician for replacement if needed

Shut down the Acer Aspire L100 and turn the tower around.

Press the "On/Off" button on the front of the tower. If the computer will not boot and the fan does not turn on, the fuse may be burned out.

Unplug the power cord from the rear of the tower

Turn the tower on its side and remove the Phillips-head screws connecting the back panel to the Aspire L100's cabinet.

Pull out the motherboard assembly gently from the back of the cabinet. The internal fuse is located on the motherboard behind the DC power jack, which is to the right of the monitor jack

Let me know if this helped..

My aspire L100 will not boot. When on button pressed blue light comes on and then goes off straight away and fan starts Ok but nothing else

You may need a new power supply....also check your internal fans to make sure they are spinning. Make sure memory is seated properly. Motherboard may also be in question. Try unplugging letting it sit for a few then plugging back in.

Thanks for the response to my Acer L100. have checked the cables and they are fine. have noticed the fan doesn't start up when the computer is switched on....could this be the problem???

The CPU fan should turn on when the PC is powered on, and then it usually slows down until the workload on the processor causes it to heat up, then the fan spins faster, it might also be a power supply issue, but if your able to boot and its giving you messages and not shutting down then you should re-install the operating system.

Acer laptop shut of during power outage .

    From the Acer website:

Power Issues or Will not Boot
    Solution
If the notebook does not power on:

Make sure the ac adapter is correctly plugged into the notebook and into the power cord.

If everything is plugged in correctly and it still will not power on, follow these steps to complete a ‘power reset' of the notebook.
    1. Unplug the ac adapter. Keep ac adapter unplugged.
    2. Remove the battery and keep the battery unplugged.
    3. Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds. (Nothing will appear on the display and none of the lights will light up.)
    4. Release the power button and plug in the ac adapter ONLY. (Please note that a power indicator light should be lit on the ac adapter when it is plugged in).
    5. Normally power on the notebook.
    6. If the unit does not power on, remove the ac adapter and insert the battery into the system.
    7. Plug the ac adapter back into the system, the battery charging indicator light will light up.
If the battery charging indicator light does not light up, the ac adapter may not be providing proper power to the unit, and may need to be replaced.
Also, depending on whether your power went down "clean" (quick and stayed off), or went down and quickly came back on and off many times. Or when it came back on "clean" (came back on quick and stayed on), or it came on then off many times, your power supply may have been damaged from the power surges Are you having any problems with any other appliances?

Possible overheating problem for Acer Aspire mini L100

I am not totally sure if this is the problem, but I would suggest that you may have a power supply issue or possibly it going out. If the computer runs fine, and then shuts down, than this can be more symptomatic to a overheating issue.

In my limited experience with overheat issues, the computer actually smelled like it was getting hot, and then it would slow down and then sometimes stop. Most computers have fail safe settings where they either alarm, or shut down or both when they overheat.

    Computer will not shut down

I have not switched to Vista, but I would try starting the Task Manager (right click on the task bar and select task manager). Then I would select the Processes tab and start killing processes to see if you can track down which one is causing your problem. Assuming you can narrow this problem down to a single process you'll at least have a fighting chance at solving fixing this.

    Good luck.
