Question about RCA P46921 46" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Picture is wider than the screean

I have a 2002 RCA 46 inch rear projection television model number P46921. the picture is wider than the screen. The remote has no aspect ratio on it and it is hooked directly to cable. No box. A friend suggested that it may need to be adjusted. I'm not sure how to do it or if that is the problem. The menue also has no aspect ratio or zoom

There is a service menu that techs can use to adjust vertical and horizontal widths. If it is not an aspect ratio problem then it is likely that it needs to be adjusted.

Are you using a cable box? Do you have aspect settings on your remote? Comcast cable boxes have a hd zoom button. This will push the sides of the picture out

I would suggest having a repair person come out to your place to fix this problem. I believe the convergence IC are going or have gone bad. I would estimate a $300 - $400 dollar repair bill.
