Question about Vacuums

I was told that the brush assembly(black plastic holders)should be inverted/fliped over when doing maintenance on my orickXL vacuume cleaner? So not to wear out the brush assembly is this correct?

You adjust it to adapt to the wear of your brush. they will make your brush higher or lower since the hole is offset. if you were to install a new brush you would want it as far away from the carpet as possible and vise versa.

How do you change the scrub heads on a Floormate SpinScrub 500?

Hey there! To change out your brush heads simply follow the instructions below.

1. Remove the nozzle by pulling the two nozzle release buttons.
2. Tilt cleaner back so handle rests on floor.
3. Push two brush release buttons and remove the brush assembly.
4. To replace brushes align post on brush block with hole on bottom of cleaner. Turn brushes slightly until post fits easily into hole. Press brush assembly firmly to snap into place.

Hope this helps!

I cant get the brushes to spin on my hoover max extract carpet cleaner

Remove the brush assembly and insert a flat screwdriver into the square hole and be sure it turns. If it is seized up, the turbine assembly will require replacement. If it turns, be sure the brush control is set to the brush position and the filter is clean. The filter may be on top behind a clear plastic cap, or underneath in red plastic holder depending on the model. The brush will also not turn unless the lower tank is in place, and the handle released and tilted back.

How to replace central vacuums Carbon Brushes

The entire brush and holder assembly has to be purchased/replaced. That's the plastic piece that screws on to the motor. I don't think you can even get brushes for their machines anymore.
Remove screws. Remove plastic piece from motor. Replace.

My bissell helix cleanview vacuums brush doesn't spin

Sounds like the beater brush is frozen and won't turn. Remove the beater brush and clean off all debris, especially at both ends. You will find a square(?) piece at each end of the beater brush that holds it in place. This need to turn freely. Put a little WD40 on these where the center rod of the beater brush enters the small holders and turn by hand until they turn freely. Once this is done, assemble with new belt, making sure the belt is put on properly. If the belt is missing and you need to replace, I would still do the cleaning on the beater brush. It should move freely when you turn it by hand.

The brushes on my Hoover steam spin carpet cleaner will not spin.

Hello, their is two reason why the brushes don't spin, one would be the brush brock is broken, take out the brush, and mnake sure their is a plastic two inch shaft sticking out, if not, then the brush block needs to be replaced, if fine, the the turbine is frozen and will need to be replaced, take the lid off and replace the black turbine, I can send you anything you need, or if you have any questions feel free to call 1561-848-3387 Thank you, Teresa.

I bought a replacement brushroll because the one in the vaccum cleaner is worn out.How do I go about putting the brush in the vaccum cleaner. Do I pull it out or do I have to unscrew the entire bottom...

Greetings from GoVacuum,

Make sure the vacuum is NOT plugged in. In order to replace the roller brush, you'll need to unscrew the 6 screws on the bottom plate of the vacuum cleaner. Oreck uses a Phillips Head screw, so you'll need to get a Phillips head screw driver to replace the brush.

After removing the screws from the bottom plate, simply pull up on the plate by putting your fingers into the open area where the existing brush is located. After the bottom plate has been removed you will have access to the roller brush and belt.

You can now just grab the roller brush and pull straight up on it. It's beneficial to change the belt of the vacuum when you're replacing the roller brush anyways. There is a spare belt on the actual bottom plate of all Oreck XL vacuums.

You'll notice that the new roller brush has two black square plastic caps on both sides of the roller brush. You can look on the outside of this black cap, and you'll see the words OLD and NEW. Rotate the NEW side so it's facing upwards, and the OLD side is the side that's down inside the vacuum cleaner, make sure that both sides have the NEW side facing upwards. You'll need to wrap the belt around the silver pin in the back of the vacuum on one side, and through the roller brush's metal pulley on the other side. The just stretch the belt with the brush inside of it, and place the black plastic parts back into the vacuum cleaner.

Congratulations, you've now just replaced the roller brush in your Oreck!

My Roomba says to clean the brushes when the brushes are already clean. Is there something to take apart to check? I have already taken the brushes out. I don't know the model number, I think it's the 500...

turn the unit upside down and remove the bottom pan should be 4 or 5 screws depending on the model.

next remove the 4 screws that hold the brush cartridge and pull the whole brush assembly out.

using a can of compressed air clean that whole assembly out there is a motor there so don't spray any cleaner on it. If there is surface grime you can use a clorox wipe or a damp cloth to get it all off.

this process should take about 10 minutes to do it properly use the straw that came with the compressed air to get in between the plastic shell and get all the dust trapped inside there.

make sure there is no dust trapped in the gears that drive the brushes.

put it all together and it should work.

I would suggest you invert the vacuum and remove the plate covering the spinning brush assembly. You should check the belt located on one side of the spinner brush to see if it is worn or broken. Also remove anything wrapped around the brush that could be affecting it. Ensure the brush is free to rotate and seated correctly. If the belt is worn or broken, or the spinner brush is unable to spin, replacements are available from a licenced repair facility. I hope it helps! Good Luck!
