Try a different monitor.

Try connecting your monitor to a laptop, to verify that the monitor is still working.

Does your computer have more than one "video-out" port?
If so, move the video-cable from the one port to the other port,
and then turn your computer on.

Ok,was starting and then shuting itself off,now it starts, all of the lights are on,but no boot and black screen. for a HP DV6000

most commonly this is called a bios loop, this is due to the fact of a currupted bios command or a damaged cpu. to eliminate bios you must disconnect battery and cmos battery usually located where memory is, cmos battery is a small cable attached to a metal disk. unattach hard drive and restart computer. after restart shut down computer and reattach battery. again start computer without hard drive. if bios screen does not appear and same sceneario occurs then your CPU is fried. If bios screen does appear and you reinstall hard drive and get same boot error then your boot sector of hard drive is gone.

Due to black screen at boot and boot loop I would say ypur cpu is gone.

Hello Everyone, I have an old PC windows98 with maxtor 90840D5 hard drive. Sometime back I've removed the hard drive and attched it to the new PC, so as to access the old files.Today when I try reattach...

you need to detect your harddisk in bios setup.
For that when you power up the computer press "del" key to enter in bios.
Then check your harddisk is detected in bios.
If not cxheck power cable and ide or sata cable connected to harddisk.
Reconect both connection to harddisk then check.

Advanced BIOS setting

Hello,

I would suggest using the set bios default option on the main screen. This should reset everything to factory defaults.

Be sure to exit saving settings. After that, assuming there's no hardware damage, it should start fine.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks

System not on

You'll probably need to reset the bios to it's defaults. This should be done with the computer off and the power cord unplugged. You can either look in the motherboard manual and find the reset pins to short or easier still...Look on the motherboard and find the bios battery. It will probably be a flat battery that looks like something out of a calculator. Pull the batter out and wait a few minutes and put it back in. After you power up, the computer should boot directly into the setup, if not enter the bios setup on post-up and restore the settings to what you normally used if it wasn't the default settings.
